Just to clarify that the "wrong" information I "put out" to Mary Cheatham
Thornburg had to do with the names of the children of John Cheatham & his
wife Rosanna. I had shown two of their sons Josiah & James as the same
person, whereas they were actually different persons. Mary graciously shared
the list of children and birthdates that she had and I incorporated this into
my records. I apologize for any "wrong" information that I may have passed
on to any other Cheatham researcher. Unfortunately, the process of trying to
identify some of these families is often done by "trial and error." However,
through all of us sharing bits and pieces of the information that we have
it's often possible to come up with the correct family alignments. I've
always done my research this way and will continue to do so. I've never
claimed to be perfect and I doubt that any of us can make that claim. As
always I'd be happy to correspond with any Cheatham researcher and share with
them the information that I have on the family. Feel free to cotact me at
WTCheatham(a)aol.com. Best regards - Bill Cheatham
If someone would like to share their info on Josiah
Cheatham and family I would like to have it. All I show is that he is the
son of Edward and b. 1754
Also show a Josiah or Joseph H., son of Peter.
Thanks,
Shirley Benson Barber

Hello TerryClouette-Walla
In reply Josiah Cheatham, son of John & Rosanna Cheatham.
Josiah was my great-grandfather. Dad was a brother to William Jesse Cheatham born about 1869 in TN. Did Wm.Jesse end up around Little Rock Ark. as my dad use to say he had a brother around Little Rock some where. He didn't know much about his older bro.and sister, Yes his mother died in 1882/3.
My dad was very young when she died. Josiah remarried to Jennie Bonds, they lived in Henry Co.TN.Josiah died at my dad,s house, 1/15/1914,in Ark.He was buried either at BLACK Oak, Ark. or around Monette, Ark. Maybe Macy Cem.Yes his wife died where you said, but grandPa didn't die there as he went to live with my dad and Mother. He died before his 2nd wife Jennie did.
I would love to have the information you have on the family if you don't mind, I will then send you what I have. Some of the information that Bill Cheatham put out was wrong, I got it from him and sent and corrected it.
I will be very glad to hear from you .

Hello
Noted your info on Archer Cheatham as being the son of Edward Cheatham. I have him as possibly being the son of Edward Cheatham (b 1710/11) (possible son of Jonathan Cheatham b1680). Archer was one of his children. ( this unproven) Do you have confirmation on this?
Thanks
Roxanne

mizmama, I would love to have what you know on Josiah Cheatham and his family, ancesters & decendants. He is buried in an unmarked grave at Black Oak, Ar. just a few miles down the road from Monette. At least, that is what I have been told. His son, Walter Joseph supposedly lived & died in Piggott, Ar.(My Town), but I have not been able to find him on any cemetary records in the county, Clay.

Miss Betty: I have recently found that Josiah Cheatham was my g g grandfather. My great grandfather was William Jesse James (not sure about the James) Cheatham. He moved to Arkansas and married my great grandmother Nora Ella Lowry.
Josiah's wife died at a young age (29, I think) and he remarried a Jennie/Gennie Bonds...in the 1920 census, she was living in the Alms House, Henry County, I am assuming penniless, as she was living in that place..that was just a few years after his death in Monette....I don't know if he was buried in Monette, ARkansas, or if he was returned to Henry Cty.
I would love to hear any info that you have on this man. Terri
