I know nothing about Cheathams, but Ethel Conoy Frier (born 2 October 1915)
was the daughter of Aaron Talley Frier and Mattie Martha Nancy Harrell. I
can provide documented Frier ancestry.
I'm forwarding this on to you all from our newest subscriber....

Hi Listers,
I'm new to the list and would like to know if anyone
out there has any CHEETHAM names on their list, particularly from the
LENTON, BEESTON and DUNKIRK areas of Nottingham, England.
My gggrandfather was HENRY CHEETHAM, married to ELIZABETH BUNTING 24th Aug
1858 at Lenton parish church. They had 10 children in all. Fanny, Annie,
Frank, Kate, William, Henry, Elizabeth, ( my ggrandmother) George, Joseph
and Arthur.
Henry's father and mother were William Cheetham and Frances Moseley.
We think that after Arthur married Rose Lowe they emigrated to Ontario,
Canada.
Any info would be appreciated.
Regards Paul

Hello all Cheatham researchers on the list!
I am researching the name CHEETHAM variant spelling with 2 e's rather than
ea.
The CHEETHAM family I'm researching was/is a large extended family of
boatmen & women on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, England who married into
many other boat families.
Dates: 1770 canal opened. I have a reference of a James CHEETHAM b. Halsall,
Lancashire in 1794.
The Cheethams lived along the canl bank in the villages of:
Halsall, Lydiate, Lathom, Burscough, Newburgh & Parbold in Lancashire.
My Cheetham line is:
In 1861
James CHEETHAM (b. 1840 in Lydiate)
married Cecily Johnson (b. 1843 in Scarisbrick)
Children (all boys & all born in Halsall):
Henry CHEETHAM b. 1862.
Edward CHEETHAM b. 1864 m. Alice
Robert CHEETHAM b. 1872 (possibly m. Elizabeth Dobson in 1894?)
James CHEETHAM b. 1876 m. Maria Lamb in 1896
John CHEETHAM b. 1878 (possibly married Hannah Howard in 1900?)
Richard CHEETHAM b. 1879 m. Margaret Gibbons
.........
Thomas CHEETHAM b. 1884 christened on 10/8/1884
If anyone has any connections or information about the L&L Canal Cheethams,
please e-mail me off list.
Best wishes,
Adrian Pearson in Barcelona.

Hello, CHEATHAM researchers!
It has been two months since our last roll call. A number of new listmembers
have joined us over the summer, so lets start August with another "Sound
Off"!
Not only will it let us get to know each other better, it might also help you
make that connection you've been hoping to find. If we each make it a point
to respond, I'm sure the results will be most rewarding!
For our new folks, a "Sound Off" works like this:
Use the following form by selecting it and copying it into a new email.
Fill in your relevant information.
The surnames may change, but carry the generations forward to the present.
(Or as current as you care to list.)
Please include Birth and Death YEARS only -- i.e., 1822-1876.
Post your completed form to the list at CHEATHAM-L(a)rootsweb.com
...and be sure to replace the Subject line with the name of your Earliest
CHEATHAM.
Thanks,
LaRae
