My mother-in-law was born Harriet Chayer 3-8-1918 to an unmarried female (I am assuming was a Chayer). She as taken to an orphanage in Chicago. The adoption papers say the mother was from St. Anne Illinois. The only Chayer family in that area I can find is Louis Chayer. He had something like 9 kids, but can't find any of the females marriage dates to make them jive with the 1918 birth date I am looking for. I am stumped! Any information on the Chayer family will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Cheryl

Sorry Cheryl, Wish I could help you but I do not have Harriet in my Regnier family tree. Best of luck in your search.

You probably have found what you need by now. I just started looking for the Chayer family in St. Anne Illinois and found your question. I found a Michel Chayer in the 1880 Illinois census. He had 3 daughters and Louis the only son was 19 years old. Since I show Louis being born in 1878, am sure that is him.
I am looking for anyone who knows about the Chayer family. My mother-in -law was born Harriet Chayer 3-8-1918. She was born to an unmarried female (am assuming a Chayer) and taken to an orphanage in Chicago where she was adopted. Any information or ideas will be greatly appreciated.
