Possibly related. My Great Grandmother was Alma Faye Chavis, She married my Great Grandfather Martin V. Sharpe in 1888. I just found this connection when I joined Ancestry. I don't know anything further on the Chavis side, and would like to know more. Have traced Sharpe side back to Germany (12th Century)

Hi Misty,
Do you by chance have any information on my great Grandmother Alma Faye "Fate" Chavis. She was married to my Great G Father Martin V. Sharpe. They lived around the Orangeburg area and i know they are buried together in Neeses. I just started researching my dad's side of the family which he never seemed willing to talk about. I would like to also find out our indian heritage as both my dad (Julian C. Sharpe Jr.) and his mom Nadine Barrs (Metts) were very dark skinned. I can't find any census data on Alma 1869-1970, as far as parents names. I can be reached at okiebear24(a)yahoo.com.
Warm regards
Barry Sharpe
