I don't know Eliza, but there are a lot of Chavis's in Marlboro Co SC, and some in Robeson Co NC.

I have been told that my family has some Native American roots and in my research have found a relative, my gggggrandmother, whose name was Eliza Chavis. She married an A. Joseph Carr, but I can find no more information about them. I believe they may be from the Columbia area. Does anyone have any information about an Eliza Chavis?

Chadwick,
Saw your message posted on Ancestry (about 10 years ago)regarding Thomas Chavis (Chivers) descendent of Bartholomew. You note the family is originally from Dorset England. I'd appreciate any information you may have in that regard.
Thanks!
