I have pictures from 1968 thanksgiving St. Louis, Mo. with Joann and Robert Miller with 3 daughters Frances, Mayme and Edgar along with my grandmother Ethel Loene Korte Hart and my mother Jean A. Hart Sipes Ward. I was adopted by Jean's twin sister June M. Hart Jackson 2/3/1959.
I think Frances had brothers Kenneth and Robert Lee Woodson.
Some of these people lived in Pettis County, Mo. My mother lived in Bloomington, Indiana and Indianapolis.
I have alot of family info. and would like alot more and find Joann and Jill and all the others. All I had were a few photos and a few names to start with and now have alot.
Mayme was my grandmothers half sister. I think my great grandmother was Lydia Reugge Riecke Korte. I know she married Edward Korte about 1904
Mayme had brothers Fred Riecke and Louis Riecke. Louis went to Nebraska. Fred fell down some stairs when he was small and was deaf. He never married. Might be more. All were born before my grandmother 1905.
My grandmother had twins Jean and June 2/14/1925 in Pettis County, Mo. Gerald Lee Hart in 1928 and Alice Ann Hart McDonald in 1934 in Monroe County, Indiana
I have heard Mayme was a twin and the other died young.
Help me find the ones left. E-mail gpig2136(a)hotmail.com

My grandfather was named Roosevelt Chavis. He disappeared from NC in 1956. My family believed he was either murdered or commited suicide. I have reason to believe he moved to georgia. I've found a SSA death index reference to a Roosevelt Chavis, who died in Georgia in 1990. The birth dates match up!
Can anyone tell me how I can continue this, to confirm or even contact any additional kin? My experience deals with the OLD folks, those from 1860 to 1929. As such, I have no idea how to continue. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanx,
Chad Chavis

Hi annette. My name is Chad Chavis. My family originates around St Paul, but my branch is mainly based around Pembroke, these days. I can't say whether you are relation or not, but I can try on my end. No guarantees here.
By chance, do you know who your Chavis grandparents were? If you can find out, that might help out alot.
Also, is Rossevelt Woods any relation to a Nash trent Woods?
Those asre two places I could start first.
Mind you, I'm not making any guarantees here. Stay at it. You'll find what you need!
-Peace

I have to disagree with you. In the South those of mixed heritage-Black-White
Indian-Black-Indian-White, were listed as Mulato as Indians had no definative
race according to the Census Takers, you were either White, Black or Mulato.
If your skin was slightly dark, you were listed Mulato, if you were
Indian-White and your skin was light you were listed White. In the 1790
Census, you were either White or Black even if you had Indian ancestry
