Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Rootsweb has recently changed to new list management software. Any
differences you notice should be minor:
The "-L" has been dropped from the official list name, but you will
be able to both sub and post using the "old" name, with the -L, or the
new one without it.
Digest subscribers will notice a small difference in the layout,
volume and issue numbers of the list digests. New instructions will
be added to the digests -- please read them. If your digests arrive
in a different format than you are used to and you would like it
changed, contact me.
The new software doesn't permit the same e-address to be subbed to
both L and D modes. If you want to be subbed to both the list posts
and the digest, you will need to use two different email addresses.
If you run into anything unusual or confusing with mail from this
list that could be related to the changeover, let me know.
