I am searching for my Chavez ancesters. My Grandfather, Hrerculano Chavez was born to Maria De Jesus Ballina in Nov of 1860. She is listed in the 1860 Manzano, Valencia Co., NM census but only she is listed as a housekeeper. Her parents were Santiago Ballina and his wife who was a Chavez.
My grandfather carried down the Chavez name to the present.
I need to know if he was baptized, possibly in Tome, if any godparents or parents are listed or any record of his birth is recorded anywhere. Also if there is any record of Ballinas in the records of Manzano or Tome. Thank you for any help.

Rosa Chavez Sanchez Lived Full Life Well After 100
By Paul Logan
Journal Staff Writer
Rosa Chavez Sanchez, one of the state's oldest citizens at 111, was still going out dancing and betting at horse races when she was 103.
She also liked to sip a mixed drink while playing bingo.
Her secret to a long life? A lot of love, according to her son, Paul Sanchez.
Sanchez died April 23 of old age at an Albuquerque rest home. She would have been 112 on Aug. 20.
A Mass was celebrated April 26 at San Felipe de Neri Church. A poem by her great-grandchildren, "Cuz you R the One," was printed in the funeral program. It said, in part:
"Cuz you R the One that taught us how to love and care, and as we go along, we'll know you'll always be there. Whenever we look up to see that certain star, we know exactly where you are."
"What kept my mom going was she had a lot of love, happiness and a big heart," Paul Sanchez said Friday.
Sanchez was buried next to her husband of about 60 years, Juan Jose Sanchez, in Las Nutrias Cemetery. He was 79 when he died in 1967.
Rosa Chavez was born in Las Nutrias, south of Belen, in 1891 — the year the zipper was invented. President Benjamin Harrison was in the White House. And things people now take for granted weren't developed yet, such as aspirin (1899), the tractor (1900) and the safety razor (1901).
She was 17 when she married Juan Sanchez. They reared five boys and five girls and farmed in Las Nutrias, growing chile, wheat, beans and corn, which they traded and sold.
"People don't believe me, but my dad used to make $1,000 a year and still raised 10 kids," Paul Sanchez said.
The family didn't own a motor vehicle. Instead, they used a wagon drawn by two horses.
When the couple retired, they moved to Albuquerque.
Paul Sanchez described his mother as "a very sparky lady," who stood 5-foot-2 and weighed about 125 pounds.
"She received a lot of respect," he said. "Nobody could get away with nothing. She was a small lady, but she was dynamite."
Sanchez was known for always telling the truth — even if it hurt — and walking with the Lord Jesus Christ, he said.
She would attend bingo games throughout Albuquerque at least twice a week until she was about 100, her son said. He made a special bingo board so she could stand her five cards on it.
"She used to read those numbers pretty good," he said.
Sanchez had pretty good success backing thoroughbreds wearing No. 7, her favorite number, he said. She was 103 when she placed her last bet.
"I think my mom was very active, bright and always working," Paul Sanchez said. "She used to work hard when she was on the farm. We were blessed."
Other survivors include four other sons, Orlando, Henry, Edwin and David, all of Albuquerque; five daughters, Mary Benavidez, Bessie Felix, Lola Landman, Della Chavez and Fermina Torres, all of Albuquerque; and a sister, Vickie Fajardo of Belen.
Rosa Sanchez also had 35 grandchildren, 83 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren.
