Cayento Larranga Chavez, 77, a long time resident of Moriarty, NM passed away May 26, 1998 at his home. He was born to Manuel and Teodorita Chavez y Sandoval on September 5, 1920 in Galisteo, NM. He married Simona Trujillo Chavez on August 5, 1939 in San Miguel, NM who has preceded him in death on September 7, 1984. Mr. Chavez was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. He was a lifetime member of Fraternidad Piadosa De Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno of Palma, New Mexico and also a long time rancher in the Moriarty area. Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law Antonio N. and Mary Louise Chavez, Joe M. and Jane Chavez, Albert and Clara Belle Chavez, Carlos and Leslie Chavez, and Cayetano, Jr. and Julia Chavez all of Moriarty; five daughters and sons-in-law Frances and Mario Cuellar of Foley, AL, Maria and Dave Thompson of Greensboro, NC, and Martha and Mike DuGan of Moriarty, Dee and Wade Carson of Houston, TX, and Elena and Donald Chavez of Moriarty; one!

Paul Chavez, 79, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away peacefully at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 17, 1998 in an Albuquerque hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Paul retired from the Belen Public Schools after 31 years of outstanding service. He served as a bugler, rifleman, and was expert with the bayonet, in the infantry of the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a participant in the battle and campaigns at Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Southern France, Northern France and the Rhineland. He was the recipient of the European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal. Paul is survived by his wife of 52 years, Juanita of the family home in Belen; his five children, Polly Gabaldon and husband, Nick of Barstow, CA, Margaret Gabaldon and husband, Danny of Laughlin, NV, Lucille Aragon and husband, Richard of Belen, Lawrence and wife, Vicky of Laughlin, NV, and Jeanette Urtiaga and husband, Cuco of Belen. are eight grandchildren; seven brothers and four sisters. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. She was a self-employed farmer and rancher. Rita loved music and enjoyed playing the violin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emilio in 1987; and her son, Kenny. Gerald "Teenie" Anthony Chavez, age 40 of De Smet, S.D. formerly of Edgewood and Carlsbad, NM died at the De Smet Memorial Hospital in De Smet, S.D. on Monday January 6, 2003. Funeral Services were held at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in De Smet, S.D. on Tuesday. He was born on October 20, 1962 to Victor and Estella (Sandoval) Chavez. He grew up and attended school at Moriarty, NM, graduating from Moriarty High School in 1983. He lived in Albuquerque until 1986 when he moved to Carlsbad to live with his sister, Susan McGehee. While living in Carlsbad he lived and worked at the CARC Farm until he moved with Susan to De Smet, S.D. in June of 2001. Gerald was quick to make friends with his bubbly personality, charming smile and easy going manner. He was Assistant Bakery Chef at Wards Store and Bakery in De Smet where he made many friends in the community. The town was truly blessed for having known him. Among survivors who are grateful for having shared in his life are his mo!

Hi, I,m Penny Parker from Windham,Maine,04062,USA. I have posted messages and hopefully some day I will find my Birth Father who,s name is >> Anthony Chavez.<< I,m not sure if this would be a Anthony or Antonio. He was a merchant marine in the year 1946. I was born in 1947. He knew a Marion Allison in Augusta,Maine or was docked or a sailor in the new England states. If anyone can and knows anything at all I would be greatly appreciative and extremely hopeful to get any kind of info related to my father. Thank you, and Sincerely, Penny Parker. As per our by-laws, it is suppose to be the first weekend of August. Unless there is a major conflict, the 35th Annual Chavez Reunion will be August 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, 2003. Albuquerque Journal - April 6, 1998
Ramon A."Marro" Chavez, a resident of El Cerro, passed away on Sunday, April 5, 1998. He was born on September 23, 1936. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta, NM. Marro was retired from Duke City Bumper Supply in Albuquerque after 28 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Estacio and Maria Chavez; and brother, Florian Chavez. He is survived by his wife, Josie D. Chavez of the family home in El Cerro; children, Joseph and wife, Cathy, Elaine Garcia, Yvonne Jones and husband, Keith, Celedon and wife, Debbie, RoseAnn Chavez, and Ramona Franklin and husband, Curtis. Also surviving are grandchildren, Ray Chavez and wife, Lisa, Yvette and Wayne, Anthony Chavez, Evangeline Garcia, Theresa Gurule, Elizabeth Chavez, Lawrence Chavez, Dolores Gurule, Eileen Chavez, Crystal Chavez, Olivia Chavez, little Anthony Chavez, Madeline Chavez, Antoinette Chavez; and one great-grandchild, Gabriel E. Salazar. He is also survived by his brothers,!
Clovis Chavez of Tome and Tony Chavez of Valencia; sisters, Ruth Copper of Nevada, Mary Jaramillo, Erlinda Sanchez and Carmen O'Down, all of Albuquerque, and Betty Spangler of El Cerro. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church in Valencia. Rosary will follow at 7:30 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m., also at the Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Valencia Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Raymond Chavez, Anthony Chavez, Lawrence Chavez, Wayne Salazar, Daniel Garcia and Ronnie Chavez. Romero Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
