I have relatives with the names you mentioned. If they are from New Mexico. If Solomon was married to Estella Chavez, daughter of Manual Chavez from Las Vegas, New Mexico and
Josefita was a Dominguez than we are related. If Not I tried.
I am trying to find my grandmothers siblings. Her name was
gumecinda Dominguez (trujillo)(Griego) from Tecolote, NM,

Hi Michele,
How are you doing? Is your mom liking that quilt? I have set up a site on the Chavez family and have been trying to input information on a regular basis. There are over 300 names entered and I haven't really got to a lot of the immediate information. I have so much information to still put in. Would you like to be invited to the site? Contact either Victoria or me and whoever gets on first can input your email address and name. Myfamily will send you a message after that. Please tell both your Mom and Dad that I said "Hello". I would love to go back up to St. Johns, but I have started a Trigonometry class, which Tiffany and I are taking together. If I go up, it will be for only a couple of days. Are they selling any propduce out at the big warehouse right now? Clarissa clarissac(a)telocity.com

I was born in Los Angeles, but my father, Herman, and my Aunts Gloria and Rosemary were born in St. Johns. My Grandmother, Remelia, was born in Concho, she married Uncle Eddie's brother, Abran Jr., and they lived in St. Johns. Abran was killed when my dad was only a child. My grandmother stayed a little while longer in St. Johns then moved to California. My father and aunts went back to St. Johns every summer while growing up, as did I until I was about 15. Most folks in St. Johns probably remember me as a child or teenager (I'll be 40 in November), although I did visit St. Johns in 1996. I took my grandma and my daughter and we stayed at Aunt Becky's house. Everyone in St. Johns knows my grandma, Remelia Gallegos, and my dad, Herman Chavez. I'm sure I played with your older sister, Kathy and Claudia when I was in St. Johns. Your dad's name sounds really familiar to me.

My oldest sister is Kathy which passed away 5 yrs ago and Claudia. My oldest bother is Jimmy. So where are originally from?

Hi Michelle, My father was Herman Chavez, whose father was Abran Chavez. Abran Chavez was Eddie Chavez' brother. Do you know Eddie Chavez and Mary who live on the corner in St. Johns by Main Street and the bridge? That is my great aunt and uncle. I have been talking to Clarissa Cosgrove via e-mail. I met her on line. She speaks of an uncle Ben Chavez. Is that your father? I spent summers in St. Johns as a young girl up until I was about 17. I am 39 now. The relatives I have in St. Johns are My Uncle Eddie Chavez, my Aunt Becky Hunt (Chavez), my Aunt Christina. My Aunt Katie lives there now (who was married to Uncle Eddie's brother, Albert) How old are you? Are you in my age range?

Hey Victoria, I am from St. Johns. My dads name is Ben and my moms name is Bea. I have lived there all my life. Your name does sound familiar.
I am going to refer your question to Pat Chavez Tachick in Albuquerque. Her family is from Socorro. She has done a lot of research on her Chavez clan (found out we are related). I am sure she can help you.
The family crest you found in the book by Fray Angelico is authentic. Fray Angelico was my uncle. He received a watercolor rendition of the family crest back in the late 50's from Dona Maria Flora de Chaves, Duquesa de Noblejas. She traced her Chavez ancestry back to King Ferdinand the Catholic and was sure the Chavez' in New Mexico were descendants of the same line.
Shirley,
I dont have much information at all on Joe Franklin Puckett. I wish I did. I'm not sure where in Arkansas he was born. The only one who would know is my grandmother and she is now in a nursing home and cant give me any information. I know he moved to Long Beach, CA and last I heard still lived somewhere in CA. Also that he had remarried and had other children.
Hi again, We have this book as well and are trying to tie in the Chavez family of New Mexico with the Torres family, Garcia family and others.Jesus Maria Chavez was born in 1831, married a Luz Torres who was born in 1841 in Socorro, NM.. Luz's father was Jose Joaquin Torres married to Juana Andrea Garcia. Joaquin Torres father was Alejo Torres who was married to Vibiana' Luzero. This has been confirmed through birth records at San Miguel dela Socorro. But we stop on the Torres side.there. Also we know Estaneslao V. Chavez's father was Jesus Maria, but am trying to confirm a Jose Antonio Chavez and Guadelupe Serrano as his parents. Where do we go from here?
My husband's mother was a Chavez of Socorro, NM. We have the book by Fray Angelico Chavez on the Chavez Clan, so I assumn the Coat of Arms on the cover is authenic. . His family goes back to a grandfather, Estaneslao V. Chavez, who was Mayor of Socorro, NM, in the late 1800's, and a Great Grandfather, Jesus Maria Chavez, who was also active in politics before him. Can't seem to find the tie in with the original Chavez clan that date back to the 17th century. Can anyone help?
Sherry....in regards to your Joe Franklin Puckett, you stated he was born in Arkansas (do you know where in Arkansas) and that his grandmother was Sadie King. I live in Calico Rock, Ark. and I know a lot of King's in this area and there use to be some Puckett's here (and may still be)...maybe I could be of some help.
Arlene, I'm sure the Joe Puckett I am speaking of is Joe Franklin Puckett. At least, thats what is on my fathers birth certificate. He would be about 82 now I think and I believe he was born in Arkansas. He once worked for Shell Oil Co. and I know is grandmothers name was Sadie King. This is all the information I have on him. Thank you. Sherry
Arlene.....Benjamin Franklin Puckett had several brothers and sisters and I do not have all the names but the ones that I do have are: Ruby Puckett (Rogers), Clarence, George, Pearl. Joe Puckett (Joseph Morgan Puckett, born August l, l9l0; died August 28, l973; buried at Old Dallas Cemetery, Mena, Arkansas (this was my father). Hope this helps. I am also looking for a sister by the name of Linda June Puckett, adopted by Roy Tucker, approximately l952/53, date of birth: August 25, l947.
Sherry, I know of a Joe Randell Puckett. At least that was his birth name as far as I know. It is possible he had his name changed or was even adopted. What do you know of your Joe Puckett. Was he born sometime in the 1920's? and do you know who his parents were? Was he in Texas? or what state? Any info could be helpful. I can share what I know of my Joe Puckett with you if you think there could be a connection. Thanks Arlene
Shirley, what are the brothers names of your Puckett and when was he born or about what time frame, if you know. I would really love to know more about your Ben and Joe Puckett. Do you know where Joe Puckett was born and when? Would really like to hear from you. Thanks Arlene
According to my mothers birthcertificate my grandfather Phillip Ignatius Chavez was born in 1905 in Mexico (unfortunately no city was mentioned.) He was apparently not a migrant farm worker as believed, but worked for The Santa Fe Railway (Railroad) Co. According to my mother my grandfather died in 1934 in St. Paul, Minn. after moving from Goddard, Kansas.
alisha.....the only information I have is my grandfather (my father's, father) was Benjamin Franklin Puckett. I do have some names of some of his brothers and sisters and that his father's name was Morgan Puckett.....possibly Ralph Morgan Puckett.
