Plattsburgh — Louis S. Chauvin, 90, of Stetson Avenue, died Tuesday, June 18, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
He was born in West Chazy on Dec. 22, 1911, the son of Napolean and Victoria (Lucia) Chauvin.
Louis owned and operated a dairy farm and firewood business for over 50 years until his retirement in 1985, when he moved to Plattsburgh. He was an assessor for the Town of Beekmantown for 18 years and was a school bus driver for eight years.
He was a former member of the Holy Name Society at St. Joseph’s Church in West Chazy.
Louis married Eleanor M. Relation on June 22, 1936, at St. Joseph’s Church in West Chazy. They enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and also taking vacation trips.
Louis is survived by his wife, Eleanor; five sons and daughters-in-law, Louis H. and Shirley Chauvin of Brewerton, N.Y., John and Jeanette Chauvin of Dundee, N.Y., Howard and Noella Chauvin of West Chazy, David and Patricia Chauvin of Mims, Fla., and Bryan and Carolyn Chauvin of Wendell, N.C.; 16 grandchildren; 24 great - grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Five brothers, Joseph, Elmer, Herbert, Lawrence and his twin brother, Wallace; and two sisters, Mary and Catherine died before him.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the O’Neill - Redden - Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday from St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in West Chazy.
