Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Those of us in the USA will soon be celebrating Thanksgiving. Listmembers,
if you could have one of your ancestors with this surname join you for
Thanksgiving dinner, which ancestor would you invite? What questions would
you ask him/her?
Please send a post to the list telling us about this ancestor - and please
remember to include dates and locations.

As some of you noticed, a list server that houses some of the RootsWeb
lists had some problems for the past week or so, resulting in no list mail
from the lists using that machine. This problem has now been corrected,
and things should be back to normal.
In the future, if you stop receiving mail from this list, there are five
steps you can take to try to find out why.
1) TRY TO SEND A QUERY TO THE LIST ABOUT AN ANCESTOR. If you receive your
query back through the list, that means that the list is working ok, but
that people are just not posting.
If your query does NOT get posted on the list, and/or you do not receive it,
2) GO TO PASSWORD CENTRAL to see if you are subscribed to the list -
http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/
Enter your e-address in the box on that page and check the appropriate box
to see which lists you are on. You will be sent an e-mail that will tell
you all the lists to which you are currently subscribed.
If you are subscribed, but not receiving mail,
3) GO TO ROOTSWEB HELPDESK http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/form1.html to see
if there is any information in the yellow box on the left telling about a
problem with a list server
If there is no information in the yellow box on the left telling about a
problem,
4) POST TO ME <cch(a)netdoor.com> and I will try to figure out what is
wrong. Use my name - CAROL - as the subject, so I will be sure to notice it.
If doing all of these things doesn't tell you why you are not receiving
your mail,
5) ASK THE ROOTSWEB HELPDESK about
it. http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/form1.html - just fill in the form and
submit it - someone will get back to you by e-mail.

On Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004, we in the US will celebrate Veterans Day, to
honor all who served our nation in wars or conflicts.
Please send a post to this list about your CHAUVIN ancestor who was a
veteran, whether in the US or in another country. If you have more than
one CHAUVIN veteran ancestor you would like to honor in this way, please
send a separate post about each.
Please use your ancestor's name as the subject line, and send your post(s)
to CHAUVIN-L(a)rootsweb.com
