Since my earlier posting, I have begun to find the "proof" I have been seeking. Thanks to UTZ(a)aol.com who posted some information on Roots Web -- I have discovered that a well-documented article was published in the Virginia Genealogist Volume 40 pp 83 - ?? (and including p 268) and in Volume 41, Number 2, April-June 1997 pp 97 - 113 by Cameron Allen. (Apparently, the Virginia Genealogist, a very well respected publication, ceased publication with vol. 50 in December 31, 2006.) The article is entitled "Francis (Francois) Chaudoin ... of Manakin Town and Buckingham Co. VA ..." It contains well sourced information on the "first three" generations of Chaudions from Virginia into Pulaski and Green County, KY. At this point, I only have information from a few pages, but I am researching where I can get a look at the whole article(s). Anyone definitively researching this line would do well to get a look at this work.
