Jerry,
Do you believe that CHAUDOIN, SHADOWEN(S), SHADOAN could be a variant then of the surname CHADEAYNE? Is this also pronounced like "shadow in or shadow en." If so, I would think it sounds like a possibility for a connection.
I found this website listed on WorldConnect:
http://www.chadeayne.com/home.htm , but cannot gain access. Do you know anything about it?

Shadden and Chaudoin may be the same name in some instances, however in one "James Shadden" being married to Anne Rankin at Green Co Tn in 1807" is not the James C Chaudoin that some have included in the genealogy of the Chaudoin family. James Shadden had three children, James Chaudoin, born the 6th of Jan 1795 *(bible record) had seven children and lived in Marion Co all of his adult life, after moving from Green Co Ky between the years of 1813 and 1819. He being the Postmaster of Jasper from 1819 until his death the 29th of Oct 1837 *(from Bible record) except for two years. I have been unable to find his wife in any records yet.

In the 1910 census Maude is not mentioned.
William & Lucy Bowman Shadoan are my Great-Grandparents.
I do have a photo (a copy) of William Shadoan (no Year) if anyone is interested.
Looking for photo's as well.
On Delitha's marriage bond Shadoan is spelled Shadoin.
Seeking any information, on this couple or their children. (Except for Delitha)

Jeff, I think I know who you are looking for. The reason he spent time in France,-guess he just wanted to visit the home land. We all originated in France, the dear Brit's could't understand the correct way to pronounce the name and used a phonetic. The correct way to pronounce Chaudoin is-Shadwine, but it looked like owen. The name went from Chaudoin to Shadowen to Owens. There are people here who are still Shadowen. One of my friends has done extensive work on this family, with what she has and what I have I think we got you covered. Will get back to you by Sat. Aug 3, with the info.

One more thing,
I wonder if the info I got from G-aunt about Warren Owens, I wonder if this could be an uncle, maybe this is why he changed his name.
I think thats it for now, just excited to finally be over the "brick wall".
Thanks,
Jeff
Thanks,
Here is the info that I have been able to sort out.
My GGGrandfather Luther Alexander Owens (Chaudion). He was born May 3, 1883 in Tn.. His father was Jessee Chaudion b. abt 1848 and d 1887. His Mother was Mary Green b. abt 1850 and d. 1883.
Luther's mother Mary died shortly after giving birth. His father Jessee died when he was 4.
Luther was orhaned and lived with relatives (we guess) until he shows up in 1907 marrying Pearl Scruggs in Lincoln Co. Tenn.
Somehow or rather for some reason he changed his name to Owens.
I was wondering if this name change on this surname was a common thing in Tennesee and I was wondering if you had any information on these people.
Another quirk, Luther spent time in the late 1920's to early 30's in France.
Thanks for any help,
Jeff Owens
