# Banning
DECATUR -- Theodore "Ted" Banning, 69, of Raleigh, N.C., formerly of Decatur
died 1:10 p.m. Monday (Nov. 26, 2001) in Wake Medical Center, Raleigh.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes
with 5 p.m. prayer service. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with military
rites by the Macon County Honor Guard.
Mr. Banning was born Jan. 11, 1932, in Decatur, the son of Vollie Ted and
Lora Chaudoin Banning. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church
and Knights of Columbus. Mr. Banning served in the Army during the Korean
War. He worked as an administrative manager for 25 years at A.E. Staley Mfg.
Co., retiring in 1982, and then worked at Our Lady of Lourdes. He was the
former vice president of Decatur boys baseball and helped build Borg Warner
Field. He also helped in the construction of Holy Family Catholic School and
Church. He married Mary F. Yunker Oct. 9, 1954, in Decatur. She preceded him
in death Jan. 2, 1996.
Surviving are his children, Michael T. Banning of Raleigh; Mark T. Banning
and wife Shelly of Decatur; Micki M. Schutte and husband Chuck of Raleigh;
Matthew E. Banning and wife Georgia of Wilmington, N.C.; grandchildren,
Brook, Megan and Shannon Banning; great-granddaughter, Audrey Banning.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
