Surname: Chaudoin, Calltharp, Coltharp
-------------------------
William Chaudoin's mother Sarah, was probably a daughter of Norvell Coltharp
(One branch descended from Norvell does spell it Calltharp) who was born
in Southampton Co. VA abt. 1755. Since William N. Chaudoin was Norvell's
grandson, I suspect his middle name was NORVELL. However, I've also seen
it "Norrell." It may be that Norvell was pronounced "Norrell" and or even
"Noel" so the spelling of William N. Chaudoin's middle name have been phonetic.
I am not sure William N.Chaudoin's father was John Mims Chaudoin, though
his grandfather apparently was. The marriage record (7 Oct 1828) in Davidson
Co. says he was Jno.W. Chandorn [Chaudoin], and the minister of record
was John M. Chaudoin.
A Mary Coltharp, probably Sarah Coltharp's sister, married a Lewis Chaudoin
in Davidson Co. 21 Dec 1829. The minister of record for that marriage was
also John. M. Chaudoin.
Norvell Coltharp moved to Davidson Co. TN between 1800 (found on census,
Halifax Co. NC) and 1811 (tax list, Davidson Co. His brother, John, settled
in eastern TN, in Hawkins Co. and a third brother, Henry, settled in York
Co. SC. They were the sons of John Calthorpe, d. Southampton Co. VA 1793,
naming the brothers in his will.
I have a Cynthia Chaudoin b. abt. 1801, who married Thomas Skaggs in 1823 in
Green Co., KY. I have no other info on Thomas but I do have the ancestors of
Cynthia. Is this who you are looking for?

Janice sent this to me. She has joined the discussion list, so please respond via the list. I do not have this person in my data. Does anyone else have anything on this CHAUDOIN connection. I do not see him mentioned in "Chaudoins of Virginia" either. Any clues anyone?
