Green Co., KY., m. Dec. 20, 1786 to Sarah MATTHEWS in Buckingham Co., VA.

Thomas Guthrie CHAUDOIN b. Apr. 3, 1795 Buckingham Co., VA., d. Nov. 29,
1879 Green Co., KY, m. July 14, 1815 to Martha Ann PENNICK in Green Co., KY.

Singleton H. CHAUDOIN b. Jan. 16, 1840 Green Co., KY., d. Sep. 16, 1883
?Larue Co., MD, m. Oct 27, 1859 to Elizabeth M. GADDIE in Taylor Co., KY.
Taylor Co. marriage book #3 pg. 173
Where is Singleton Buried? Does any one have his will?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
TIA,
Sharon Wright
Researching; Chaudoin, Goodall, Goode, Staats, Voorhees, Wright
Ed, this is a very complicate line and they came down from VA. Supposedly
from Buckingham CO, but this was a newer CO, cut off from Chesterfield, where
the Chaudoin's lived at. I wrote the Book Chaudoin's of VA, Westie GS
John J. died in Taylor CO, and is buried right on the line with Taylor and
Green CO. and he left everything to Margaret Forbis. by codicil dated 11 May
1869 recorded 10 Aug 1869. in Green CO, pg. 320 Regards Westie GS
Thank you, Dixie,
Yes it does help.
Tapley (with a "T") GUPTON was brother of Henrietta "Haney" (GUPTON)
CHAUDOIN.
I would suspect that this is John I. CHAUDOIN (wife, Eliza SCOTT). John I.
CHAUDOIN was brother of Benjamin S. CHAUDOIN, husband of Henrietta GUPTON.
The old handwriting for "I." often looked like a fancy "J." and frequently
one is mistaken for the other.
I do not have any children recorded for the family of John I. & Eliza
(SCOTT) CHAUDOIN, and Gloria's book, "CHAUDOINs of Virginia," also indicates
there were none.
In the information below, sent by Dixie, it appears that possibly they had
some
type of roominghouse/boardinghouse.
Thanks for sharing, Dixie. Your time and trouble are appreciated.

Doing more Green Co KY research , this time on my SHERRILL's
Found this:
1860 Green Co Census
Dwelling 347
John J CHAUDOIN 69M Farmer $500 $1800 VA
Eliza CHAUDOIN 66F VA
Robert R JENTRY 24M Laborer KY
Margaret FORBIS 40F Seamstress KY
James W HARDY 26M School Teacher TENN
Elizabeth B HARDY 21F KY
They live next door to the WOODWARD family and Lapley (should this be
Lasley?) GUPTON
I know that Henrietta GUPTON married Benjamin CHAUDOIN
hope this will help someone!
Dixie
Yes, I would say Benjamin is the same person from the info shared by Dixie.
Benjamin S. CHAUDOIN m 1 Mar 1818 Green Co. KY Henrietta "Haney" GUPTON &
lived Green Co., KY.
[NOTE: Ancestor of David E. HANCOCK, Sr. ASH]
[NOTE: Marriage bond was posted 28 Feb 1818 with bondsmen: Benjamin CHAUDOIN
& Joseph B. SUBLETT and with Phebe GUPTON giving her consent on 26 Feb 1818.
They were married on 1 Mar 1818 with witness being William WRIGHT.] (Source:
Marriage Bonds/Records of Green Co., KY & Family Records)
Children appear to be:
Melinda b ca 1819
Emily Jane b ca 1821
Martha S. b ca 1823
Reuben D. b 1825
Stephen b 1827
Ruthy Ann b ca 1828
[NOTE: Death Record 28 Dec 1858 indicates Ruthy Ann WRIGHT was 30y old
"dau/o Ben CHAUDOIN" who died of "flux". Ruthy thus appears to be dau/o
Benjamin & Henrietta (GUPTON) CHAUDOIN. ASH] (Source: Death Record, Green
Co., KY)
John Isaac b 1829
Pleasant b 1831
Phebe b ca 1832
m Asbury B. SHUFFETT, bro/o James
[NOTE: Ancestor of David E. HANCOCK, Sr. ASH]
Elizabeth b ca 1834
m James H. SHUFFETT, bro/o Asbury
I am not convinced that the Elsey (b 1847) & George (b 1848) listed below by
Dave are of this family, as Phebe would have been 55y+ of age at the birth
of these two...some 13y after the birth of Elizabeth. Does anyone have any
proof or additional information? Is anyone else researching this family
line. Information on this family is lacking in the book "Chaudoins of
Virginia" with incomplete & missing data.

I forgot to tell you that her Father was William Woods Buster & Mother Jane ?
I think she was ? I have look that up and don't have the time right now.
Take care and hope this will help. Gloria Smith
Yes, Amy Kelly (m) Joel D. Lewis and they were the parents of my line who
lived and died in Pulaski, CO, KY. Yes, she was not Anna she was Amy and
died in Burnside, Pulaski, CO, KY. Buried in Old Tateville Cemetery which my
2nd Cousin
Robt Thos. Lewis cleaned and reset her stone and he ordered new one for my
Aunt
who married George A. Lewis as a second wife. Joel D. I don't know what it
stands for but he was born in Crab Orchard, Lincoln CO, KY D: 26 Mar 1864
and Amy was b: 6 Oct 1808 Wayne CO, KY d: 16 Jan 1857 she was d/o Joseph
Kelly and Jane Buster who had traveled from VA. by foot and horse and Joseph
was married by his Father Edward Kelly in VA. with Wm. Woods as Witness, they
had a few children before Joseph died sometime before her mother left to go
to MO. Amy had 13 children and Joel D, (m) Mary Jane Helton 14 Feb 1861 born
21 Jul 1842 and believe she married a 2nd time after Joel's death. Dr. up in
Louisville, had done a lot of research on the Woods line and another man
mapped out the Kelly graveyard at Strawberry and found Joseph's grave and
mailed me a copy because I had the parents of Joseph which was given to me by
a lady who wrote a book on this family and lives
in Johnston, TN. I have her address and if you need it you can send her the
money for a Xerox copy of the pages and she sites where the information came
from. There first born son is my ancestor John Woods Lewis who married Anna
Martin 21 Jul 1840, and died 5 Nov 1904 Tateville. Westie GS

I'm a descendant of these Shadoan, Kellys, Lewises, but I'm puzzled on this
Jane Kelly. Was her maiden name BUSTER? And do you know who her father was?
I went to the Pulaski Co. (KY) Historical society and have seen both William
Woods Buster and John Buster. I believe a Charles Buster moved to Mo. with
Jane Kelly (an uncle, maybe)? Can you verify Jane's parents' names?
Also, someone sent me information that Jane KELLY was also known as Anne Jane
Buster KELLY? Can you help me with this? (I descend from Anna KELLY, who
married Joel D. Lewis. I am still puzzled at what the D. stands for after
Joel.)
Thanks.

Hello, Edward, and Welcome to you and any other Newbies,
Have you accessed the CHAUDOIN archives yet? There should be some
information in the archives. It appears at this time there is only one
CHAUDOIN surname in the U.S. stemming from the immigrant Francis CHAUDOIN,
and all are related even though the spellings of the surname varies. See:
http://home.att.net/~davehancock/CHAUDOINline.html
To access archives go to this site:
http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl
Name of List CHAUDOIN
Submit Query
Then enter any words (Elizabeth Chaudoin) to see what is listed on all
Elizabeth CHAUDOINs or just enter CHAUDOIN again to access all queries for
1998.
Do the same to look at 1999.
Hope this helps.

Hello.
I am new to the list. I am a descendant of David Drui(e)n and Elizabeth
Chaudroin of Green Co KY. I am interested in any history of this family
and corresponding with any who are related.
Edward Reynolds
Dear Wanda, please don't give up on the family as this raises the question
about truth, and freedom of choice. Don't let it upset you dear, Joe Burch
is a lovely person and he meant well. No ill will intended. May God watch
over you, if not may the devil deny you entry as being to good for him. Love
Gloria.
Dear Cousin Bob; I put the word out long before I printed my book that I had
intention to do so with everyone I wrote to and every library I wrote to. I
got a lot of documents for every one I could find and hunted for any graves
and walked into a lot of wasps along the way, climbed fences to read stones
trampled by cows and dug weeds away from stones to read what I could for who
they were. I never said I owned anything and still don't. As for 35 years
of searching is a drop in the bucket compared for some. Not me I can tell
you. I have a number of Kelly's in my family and had found a lady in TN. As
one of my family she had printed the Edward Kelly book and she had no more to
sell. But sent me a pedigree sheet on him. My Kelly line came into Pulaski
CO, KY where the son Joseph dies quite early about 1818 and left a wife Jane
who went on to MO. but was denied a pension due to the fact she couldn't
prove she had married Joseph, but was found later in a law and order book,
think it was Albermarle CO, VA. Westie GS
Joseph Birch lives in a near by town and he is well known in the Genealogical
society
which I am a member of as well he and I have compared notes and I gave the
books of Green CO, for him to search. I never leave a stone unturned if I
can help it. I and Joe have agreed that he jumped the gun and put to much
into the assumed will which I have only seen in a Green CO, book written by
Barbara Wright of Green CO,
as an abstract and wife Susannah is named and lives everything for her and
children but does not name them. This is a partial answer plus the Deed
transfer from Wm. Moore to Robert Moore which Wm. received from state of KY.
of 50 A and dated 9 Aug1798 Warrent #4495 which is also recorded as him being

Peggy Lane this Wm.died in Ky abt, 1818 he was a 2nd Lt. and gives the land
to Robert B. Moore 18 Jun 1799
and Robt. B. MOOre acknoweldges given by Wm. 5 Mar. 1803 . 2 pg. 84, and pg
23 I have checked all the Robt Moores in DAR records and all the Robt.are not
listed with a wife named Susannah nor any of them being conected to the
Chaudoin's.
Charels Darnell is my 3rs cousin and spoke with today via phone. None of his
findings came up withanything that I didn't give. His book written 2nd in
Turkey and didn't have the extensive research that is given in my book. I am
convinced that someone could buy the will and see for themselves. Westie GS
