I now believe that Lucinda Chatwood's maiden name was "Mangus" not "Chenard". (wife of Thomas Chatwood)

Thank you. Yes my Mother is alive but I know that she doesn't know a lot about the Chatwood family, just what I am piecing together. I just went to familysearch.org which is a great site (although some of the information on my Great-Grandmother is wrong)and put in Harrison Chatwood and year of birth and on the 1930 census from Vail, Thurston, Washington was the family of George Chatwood (Levi's brother) George's wife Mary and children: Virginia, Viola, Amelia, Georgia, Harrison and Carl. So I am assuming that Levi was in that picture with his 2 nephews on July 04,1959.
My interest is really getting peeked because I have letters to my Grandmother from her cousins Viola, Virginia, Amelia among others, which I will sort through, and see what I come up with. I can scan and email that picture and whatever else I come up with if you like. I live in Ontario, Canada.

I would love to have a copy of that picture. I just spoke to my mom's cousin, daughter of her aunt and the answer is nothing rings a bell. Maybe check on Heritagequest.com that you can access through your public library card at your local library. Click on "databases" and they should have that site, most of them do. Here you can access the 1930 census. Carl might be one of Levi's kin. Levi did have a son named Carol Chatwood, at the moment not sure when he was born. Levi Chatwood married Hulda L. Secord Chappell and they had Carol and Lyda. Is it possible this "Carl" is Levi's son Carol? This Carol Chatwood went on to become an animator at the studios. Is your mother still living? If so, ask her if it is Carol and not Carl. Or ask if Carl had a sister named Lyda. If yes, then his name is Carol. Let me know what happens.

Thank you for the reply, I really appreciate it. The more information that I find out about Lucinda Chatwood the more the name "Mangus " shows up. I did find out that Lucinda Chatwood died in 1917 and is buried in the Dickson Cemetery; Dickson, Alberta, Canada. Two years later her daughter, My Great-Grandmother Nina Pearlie May (Chatwood) Keillor died at age 30 and is buried right beside her.
My Mother has a picture dated: July 04,1959, featuring Levi Chatwood, with 2 other men; one named Harrison age 38, and Carl age 35. Are these men Levi's sons? It was taken at "Toutle" or "Turtle" River, Castlerock, Washington.
Thank you.

I have never seen the name Chenard in connection with Chatwood. I believe in my research that I found Lucinda's maiden name to be Mangus.
My mother's aunt was raised by Levi Chatwood and she recently passed away this past April at the age of 96. She was very helpful with lots of information about her mother, Hulda L. Secord Chappell Chatwood.

According to the 1900 census from Buffalo Town, Johnson, Wyoming. He was 25 and this is where he was living still with his parents and siblings. I am descended from his younger sister Pearl who was 11 in this census. I believe that Levi was in Washington at some point in his life though.
I am looking for any information on Levi's parents, Thomas and Lucinda. Was Lucinda's maiden name Mangus? or Chenard?

I ran out of room on the last post. The 1921 Alberta, Canada census will not be available to view until 1913. My Great- Grandmother Nina (Pearlie) May (Chatwood) Keillor had an autograph book that she had friends and relatives sign, which I now own. One entry: March 04, 1902: Dear Sister, Roses are red and Violets blue, Pinks are sweet and so are you. (signed) Your loving brother, W. Earl Chatwood, Billings, Yellowstone co. Mont.. On April 05, 1909 John wrote: Raven, Alberta, Canada. Dear sister Pearl; When you grow old and cannot see, Put on your speckler and think of me, (signed) Your true Brother John Chatwood. And another one: April 06,1909: Mrs. Pearl Keillor, May your life be as sweet as a Rose and so Pure as a lilly, (signed) Mrs. Lulu Chatwood.
I would like to find out when John and his family moved back to Billings, and when did his wife Lulu die? When did John return to Canada? Or did he never leave but Lulu may have taken children and gone back to Billings herself? I found an emigration record for a John Chatwood to Alberta dated July 1928. At this time Alvie would have been 19 and Loyce 16. Hopefully will in time be able to fill in the blanks.
Also in a letter written to my Grandmother (Stella (Keillor) Kyle) Loyce Holbrook wrote that she lived with an Aunt Myrtle after her mother died. Was she adopted?

Message Board Post:
Hi, sorry that I have taken so long to reply. I have done some more research and found out that my Great- Grandmother Nina Pearl May (Chatwood) Keillor (sister of John)died in 1919 and is buried in the Dickson Cemetery, Dickson Alberta, Canada; right beside her mother, Lucinda Chatwood (wife of Thomas)who had died in 1917. John Chatwood died in July 1960 and is buried in the Sylvan Lake Cemetery, Alberta, Canada. I got this and more information through the Edmonton Branch of the Alberta Geneological Society, including the 1906, 1911 and 1916 census, plus some information from a local history book titled: "Grub-Axe to Grain." This got me interested in finding out more about John Chatwood. I have spelled names exactly as I found them to be spelled. According to the 1906 census in Alberta, Canada (Strathcona District): W. LaRoche (Head of Househol) age 42; Anna LaRoche (Wife) age 39; Albert LaRoche (Son) age 19; Lulu LaRoche (Daughter) age 17.
Thomas Chatwood (HoH) age 54; Lucinda Chatwood (W) age 53; Mervin Chatwood (S) age 23; Pearl Chatwood (D) age 18; (Stella-Granddaughter dorn April 11, 1906 (Pearl and Chandler Keillor were not married yet when my Grandmother Stella was born); John Chatwood (S) age 16; Earl Chatwood (S) age 14; Chandler Keillor (H) age 36.
So at this time in history the LaRoche family and part of the Chatwood family all lived in Alberta, Canada.
Then I found (through: familysearch.org) the marriage certificate for John and Lulu Chatwood. December 21, 1908 in Billings, Yellowstone, Montana. It appears that John must have lied about his age because it is listed as age 21. The names of the parents on the marriage certificate were C.W.Laroche and Anna Wells LaRoche; and L.V.?? Chatwood and Lucinda Mangus?? Chatwood.
1916 census Alberta, Canada: (did not see LaRoche name)
Thomas Chatwood (Head) age 64; Lucinda Chatwood (W) age 63; John Chatwood (Head)(Son) age 25; Lulu Chatwood (Daughter-in-law) age 28; Alvie (Grandson) age 6 born in Alberta, Canada; Loice (Granddaughter) age 3 born in Alberta, Canada.
