Does anyone on the list have information about which Cottrell line that
Nancy (Cottrell) Cheatwood might be connected. I have transcribed and put
the will of Nancy (Cottrell) Cheatwood online.
I know her grandaughter Mary A. Carter [daughter of Evalina (Cheatwood)
Carter] married Jacob Cottrell who was a son of Elijah and Catherine
(Loucks) Cottrell of Gallia Co., OH.

Nancy Cheatwood's Will
The State of Ohio, Gallia County, ss,
Be it Remembered that at a Probate Court held at the Court house in the Town
of Gallipolis, County of Gallia and State of Ohio, on the eleventh day of
September in the year of our Lord one Thousand eight hundred and fifty two.
Before me Samuel B. Rathburn Judge of said court, The Last will and
Testament of Nancy Cheatwood late of said county deceased was brought before
said court for Probate and was proved by the oaths of Gilbert Bennett and
Jehu McDaniel the two subscribing witnesses thereto, whose examinations were
reduced to writing and signed by them and it appearing to the satisfaction
of said court that the said Nancy Cheatwood at the time of executing said
Will, was of full age, of sound mind and memory and under no restraint and
that she has since departed this life. It is ordered by said court that the
said Will be admitted to Probate, and the same together with the proof so
made and reduced to writing be recorded in the record of this court, which
said Last Will and Testament and the proof so made as aforesaid are in the
words and figures following "to wit" __
In the Name of God amen. I Nancy Cheatwood of the County of Gallia and State
of Ohio being of lawful age and sound mind and memory having the certainty
of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof. I do hereby make this Last
Will and Testament in manner following "to wit", First of all I recommend my
Soul to God, who gave it to me. I wish all my just debts and funeral
expenses paid, the balance of my Earthly concerns I wish to be divided
amongst my five children in manner following. I wish my son John to have one
dollar and no more of my Estate. I wish my Daughter Permelia to have my bed
and bedding. I wish my son Samuel to have the forty acre lot of land I am
now living on the balance of my property that I may have at my death. I wish
equally divided between Evalina, Tambalin, Permelia Celia and Samuel. I wish
no Administration or law with my children, but hope that they all will be
satisfied therewith. Witness my hand and seal this 23rd day of October

The State of Ohio, Gallia County, ss,

McDaniel and made solemn oath that the paper then and there presented
purporting to be the Last Will and Testament of Nancy Cheatwood late of
Gallia county deceased was signed and sealed by the said Nancy Cheatwood by
the hand of Jehu McDaniel at their request that she made her mark to her
name as her own act in our presences that we witnessed the said Will at the
request of the Testatrise in her presence and in the presence of each other
and that she then and there declared it to be her last will and testament
and that the said Testatrise was of sound mind and memory and of lawful age,
and that she was under no restraint, but did it of her own free will and
