I am also late in responding, but curious if you have found any additional information since your post. I don't have much at all on Cornelius Sr. but have found much on his son Oliver, and I am a related through his other son William Snyder.
Let me know what info you need and I will see if I can help, and if you have anything additional on Cornelius Sr. I would appreciate the help! Thanks!

Hi Joan,
I know that it is 2 years since you posted this thread, but hope you are still active.
I am researching the Chatterton family here in NZ who came from the Spalding region of Lincolnshire. I have a data base of most of those in NZ and can connect them back to John Chatterton (b pe-1790) and Elizabeth Brown.
I would like to have contact to compare notes. My e-mail is whblair(a)hotmail.com.
Regards Wallace

My name is Tom Chatterton. Leo Chatterton was my grandfather, and Rose my step-grandmother. I would visit them in Huntington WV every so often in my childhood until my early teens.

Message Board Post:
Michael CHATTERTON [b 1811] and married to Louisa VINE [b 15 Apr 1820] lived in Spalding area. They had several children; John Vine CHATTERTON [b 30 Jun 1846] who emigrated to New Zealand, [I have a full tree for] William Vine CHATTERTON, [b 1848] [I have a lot of detail for him particularly for 1 of his daughters Florence Louise who is my Grandmother] Elizabeth Anne CHATTERTON, [b 1850] [I have no information about her] Joseph CHATTERTON, [b 1856] [I have no information about him] Matthew Vine CHATTERTON, [ Married Emily ? and had 1 child that I can identify named Walter Russell who came to New Zealand in 1905. Matthew died in London in 1893]
I am looking for as much information as possible for any of these, and particularly on Joseph as I think he may be a link to many of the other Chatterton's who came to New Zealand.
I am also trying to gather further information about Michael CHATTERTON. I believe that he had a brother Joseph, and a sister Elizabeth. Who was their father? Who was their mother? What information is there about the other members of the family and were there other siblings other than the 2 I am aware of?
I look forward to any help for all scources. Merry Christmas,
Wallace Blair. [New Zealand]

Thanks for the reply. It looks like the branch containing Laura is pretty much a dead end since she had no children by any of her husbands.
My connection is through Laura BAILEY's step-mother who was the widow Bertha B. DeBEER nee EDWARDS. Bertha was the sister of one of my maternal great-grandmothers, Isabelle SKERRITT nee EDWARDS. Isabelle & her husband Harry SKERRITT both died in 1937 within one week of each other...she in Hurley, Ulster Co and he in Kingston City Hospital, Kingston, Ulster Co.; both are buried in Hurley in the Hurley Cemetery.
I don't know where on Staten Island Laura's parents, William & Teressa P. are buried.
Laura has no siblings that I could find nor step or half-siblings - Bertha was also childless.
Laura's step-mother Bertha is buried as Bertha Edwards BAILEY with her first husband, Samuel Winton DeBEER in Fairview Cemetery on Staten Island. Their grave is located just one row in front of the grave of Bertha's parents, William Austin EDWARDS and Mary Jane nee WILSON.
So, Laura outlived Frederick, Sr. and they had returned Upstate to Eltingville by the time Frederick, Sr. died in 1930.
I see in the SSDI that Laura died as Laura LONGSTREET on 15 Sept 1969 in Bloomington, Ulster Co. Is a burial location for her known?
Did Laura outlive husbands 2 & 3, Nick SANER & Ernest LONGSTREET? I think she may have outlived #3 Ernest at least. Laura's SSN was issued in 1962 which could be a clue as to when Ernest may have passed away.
Does anyone in your family know when & in general, where Nick SANER & Ernest LONGSTREET each died? They aren't in the SSDI so that would seem to indicated death before the mid to late 1960's for each.
Freddie, Jr. b. 1889 couldn't have died Dec 1867. Did you mean 1967? Any knowledge of where he is buried?
BTW...Looking at your Chatterton/Ingersoll Family Tree, I see that we share Maaratje/Maria Thomas Badye/Badie & Paulus Van der Beek. For me it is Paulus & Maria > Paulus & Sarah Schouten > Paulus & Catalyntje Reyersen > Marie VanderBeck & Garret DeBow > John DeBow & Jannetje Van Ness > John DeBow & Hester Jacobus > James DeBow & Alice Bevens > John DeBow & Martha Jones > Lillian DeBow & Harry Skerritt whose mother Isabelle was the sister to Laura Bailey's step-mother Bertha. I haven't gotten all of this firmly checked to sources except back to John (DAR) & Jannetje (both buried Pompton Plains Reformed Cemetery, Pompton Plains, NJ) & Garret & Marie (History of Bergen Co, NJ).
I would welcome seeing some pix of Laura & Frederick, Frederick, Jr, & whoever else connects to Laura and could send you pix of Isabelle, Harry & the DeBEER & EDWARDS graves. My email is miyukichan0987 at yahoo dot com Linda

Frederick Dayton Chatterton, born 24 Jan 1867 in Poughkeepsie, NY. He was the brother of my grandmother. His middle name comes from his aunt Marietta's husband's last name. His parents were Nathan Gifford Chatterton and Elizabeth Palmer.
His first wife was Kittie E. who was born in 1873 and died 22 July 1900 of tuberculosis . both of them are buried in Poughkeepsie rural cemetery. The had 2 children: Frederick Dayton chatterton jr, born 7 June 1889 amd died in fort Hamilton, Kings county in Dec. 1867. Freddie, as my mother recalls was always found in some forsaken place as he couldn't seem to find himself.
Their second child was Mildred E. born in 1898 and died of pneumonia at the age of one year on JUly 15, 1899 and is buried with her parents.
Frederick's second wife was the ever marrying Laura Bailey, born in 1880 and who after Uncle Fred died married nick Saner and Ernest Longstreet. The Chattertons lived in Staten Island, She never had any children and died in 1969.
Frederick worked for Proctor and Gamble and retired early, much to his displeasure and moved to Eltingville, across the river from Poughkeepsie where he died at the of 63 on 29 Jan. 1930.
I have some great photos of the family is you would like to see them. Eliza
