Chattertons of Great Budworth
by Vera and Dave Chatterton
Dear List, ,
Does anyone have a connection with the Joseph Chatterton of Gt.
Budworth Cheshire? He married Mary Worrall in 1852, and the marriage
was registered at Runcorn.
It is possible that this was his second marriage. He and his father
William were file cutters. Joseph and his wife are buried at lower
Whitley Ches. and one of their children,Thomas Worrall Chatterton was
sent to live with the Worrall family when he was orphaned. He is the
Ggrandfather of my husband, David Worrall Chatterton.
On the net I found a George Chatterton ,originally from Sheffield,a
migrant to USA who set up the first file making business in that
country.(See Google Images)
Another less pleasant association was a few years ago I read a book on
Victorian murders , and was a bit shocked to see a trio named Worrall,
Worrall, and Chatterton in court for the rape and murder of a poor
woman walking to her daughter,s for Christmas, I think in Oldham. Can
anybody claim them? Regards, Vera
