Hi All
Thanks to Ray for prompting this. Here are my interests:
I am following the line of Henry CHATTERTON (born 15 Nov. 1824 in
Goxhill, Lincolnshire, UK). He was one of eight children born to James
CHATTERTON (born 25 Nov. 1780, not sure where but possibly Yorkshire)
and Elizabeth ? (born 11 Feb. 1787, place unknown).
Henry's siblings were:
Mary CHATTERTON (born 12 Aug. 1809)
Sarah CHATTERTON (born 15 Feb. 1811)
Ann CHATTERTON (born 11 May 1813)
Hannah CHATTERTON (born 24 Sep. 1816)
Charles CHATTERTON (21 Mar. 1819)
Elizabeth CHATTERTON (born 16 Feb. 1823)
John James CHATTERTON (born 06 Mar. 1827)
Of these siblings I only know that Sarah married a Thomas HODGSON. I
have no further details on any of these siblings, although the family
did move at some stage from Lincolnshire to Kilham in Yorkshire.
Henry married Mary WOOD (b. 07 Sep. 1824 in Theddlethorpe,
Lincolnshire) on 22 Mar. 1847. Henry and Mary emigrated with their
young family to the new English Colony of Natal in South Africa on board
the 'Haidee' in 1850. The family settled in Pietermaritzburg. Mary
died in 1866 and Henry remarried Hannah Elizabeth STANTIAL (b. 24 Sep.
1836 in Corsham, Wiltshire, UK). Hannah had emmigrated with her brother
in 1863. Henry had 14 children from his two wives. I am a great great
grandson of Henry's descended from Kate CHATTERTON, a daughter from his
2nd marriage.
I am trying to following all the descendent lines of Henry CHATTERTON,
but would also love to trace the family further back in time and to find
out more about any of his siblings' lines.
As far as I know, most of the family are still South African based, but
there is at least one line in Canada, I think in Victoria, BC. The
progenitor of the Canadian line - George Louis Chatterton, was a member
of the Canadian Parliament (represented Esquimalt-Saanich, British
Colombia from 1961-1968). I presume he is still alive plus he had at
least four children.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Best wishes

There are so few postings on this list that I think it may be good for
all members to send to the list who they are looking for. Some people
have left the list and more have joined, so someone may be on it who
was
not when you asked before.
This is really getting to ba an international list, there are members
from at least 6 countries using it at this time.
Cheers
