Does anyone have information on Finnemore Chatterton. He was governor of Wyoming and was born in Oswego County New York around 1902. I want info on his parents. My interest follows a twisted sense of logic, but I'm looking for a Chatterton from New York, who married an Alfred Finnemore. The fact that there is a Chatterton with the same first name as the last name that I'm looking for who married a Chatterton seems too coincidental for me. But I'm probably on the wrong track. Any info would be appreciated.
Dale

Sally I'm looking for any info on Luther Samuel or Luther Daniel Chatterton. He may have been going by the name of Daniel Luther Andrews. He was married to Emma Whitney and had a son Walter, Algin, Alford & daughter Lottie. I was told they moved to Canada and changed there names to Andrews. His fathers name was Fifield Chatterton and his mother was Sarah or Sally Andrews. He also had a sister named Eliza M Chatterton born Sept 28.1857 in Middlesex. Vt.

Kathleen, thanks very much for the additional information on Mary Ann and her family.
To answer your question about my finding Mary Ann's birth at LDS, I didn't find her until just a few minutes ago. I put Mary Chatterton, father Samuel Chatterton and searched. Mary Ann came up #1. It stated Christening was 25 Sept. 1811. Father was Saml Chatterton. What do you think? Always before I had put in father and mother and it wouldn't come up.
I got my notebook out and looked at the printout on George, Jane, William and now Mary Ann Chatterton and they all have the same Source Call No. and same Printout Call No. Do you know what these mean at LDS?
Also could you send me a copy from your book of marriage records on Samuel and Diana with a heading showing All Saints Parish Church. I would like to add it to my notebook.
I know you wouldn't want all of my Chatterton tree, but if you would like 2 or 3 generations of George son of Samuel and Diana let me know.
Thanks again for all your help,
David Chatterton

Here is what I know about Mary Ann Chatterton. She was born in 1811 in South Kir(k)by to Samuel Steel Chatterton and Diana Kitchin. Samuel's and Diana's marriage records are listed in the All Saints/South Kir(k)by marriage index for the years 1754 -1812. So Mary Ann would have been the eldest of their children. Her first husband, Timothy Nottingham, died when he was 27, and Mary Ann remarried John Vickers in 1841 in the All Saints Parish Church in South Kir(k)by. She had three daughters from her first marriage, all under the age of 9, when she married John Vickers (b. 1816). Mary Ann Chatterton and John Vickers had four more children...Francis Samuel Vickers (b. 1842, d. 1842), John William Vickers (my gg grandfather; b. 7/7/1843), Eliza Jane Vickers, b. 1845, Dinah Vickers, b. 1847. (Francis Samuel Vickers was named for both of his grandfathers...Samuel Chatterton and Francis Vickers. Sadly, he died shortly after birth.)
John Vickers and Mary Ann Chatterton Vickers were on the Nichol Township, Ontario, Collector's Roll for 1850. In the 1852 Ontario census, John was listed as a musician (violinist)...he played in orchestras in England and Canada. In the 1861census, John and Mary Ann are shown as living in the village of Elora, Ontario. He is listed as a distiller and was shown in tax rolls as having accumulated more than $12,000 in business capital which was a very large amount of money at the time. By 1865, John and Mary Ann were shown on census reports to be residing in Enniskillen, near Durham, Ontario. (All of these towns are located in Grey County, Ontario.)
John and Mary Ann's son, John William Vickers, owned a general store/p.o., jewelry/watch/clock store and was a school teacher (busy guy) in an area just west of Durham known as Vickers Corners. I have photo postcards from my great grandfather Joseph William Vickers, to my gg grandfather, John William Vickers. The photo on the postcard is of my grandfather as an infant, John Douglas Vickers, and the mailing address is Vickers P.O., Ontario, Canada. Also, my great grandfather Joseph William Vickers had a brother named Samuel Chatterton Vickers. I have a family photo of John William Vickers, (Mary Ann Chatterton's son), and his twelve children, including Samuel Chatterton Vickers, and their spouses.
An interesting note: Francis Vickers (Mary Ann Chatterton's father-in-law) was said to have made a living manufacturing armaments. It is speculated that the company he and other Vickers family members started was what eventually became Vickers Defence, now located in Leeds, Yorkshire about 20/30 miles from South Kirkby. (Vickers Defence is famous for many things including design/construction of the HMS Dreadnaught, England's first nuclear sub.) It is possible that the assets that John Vickers and Mary Ann Chatterton Vickers reported in Canadian tax records may have been from a sale of interest in the fledgling company. This is speculation of course...but I am researching this angle along with others.
David, were you able to locate LDS records that confirmed Mary Ann's birth in 1811? I have verified and cross referenced most of the records of the Vickers, but I've just started up the Chatterton branch of the family tree. Our information is so dead on, I'm sure we are related!
Thank you so much for the information about Mary Ann Chatterton's siblings.
Kathleen Vickers

Samuel Chatterton was my ggg grandfather. He married Diana Kitchin on Aug. 19, 1805 South Kirby, Yorkshire, England.Source: LDS. Diana was Christened on Feb. 5, 1788 South Kirby, Yorkshire and her father was listed as John Kitchin source:LDS.
My gg grandfather was George Chatterton Christened Sept. 26, 1813 South Kirby, Yorkshire parents Samuel and Diana. I also found a Jane Chatterton Christened Oct. 29,1815 and a William Chatterton Christened Mar. 29, 1818 born to Samuel and Diana Chatterton, Christened same place found at LDS.
George Chatterton came to the United States from Lancashire in 1849 boarding in Liverpool on the ship Constitution, Sept. 5, 1849. I am not sure if this was departing or arrival date. They arrived in the port of New York.
George and wife Mary and two children were in the Cabell County Va. (Now WV) census in Sept. 1850. The ages agree with their births.
Another source to link George to Samuel and Diana is that he remarried in Cabell Co. after the death of Mary. It listed his parents as Samuel and Diana Chatterton of Yorkshire, England.
I would be very interested in any other information you may have on Samuel, Diana and Mary Ann.
Hope this helps as to siblings.
David Chatterton
I found some time ago the listing of Mary Ann Chatterton on gencircles.com and was pleased to find that Samuel's middle name was Steele as I had not found this before.
As for siblings of Mary Ann I believe that George is a brother to her and probably Jane and William.
