Hi All
Here is a rather belated introduction, having been a silent member of this mailing list for several months now.
I am researching the Chatterton Family line connected to Henry Chatterton (born 15/11/1824 in Goxhill, Lincolnshire, UK). He married Mary Wood (born 07/09/1824 in Theddlethorpe, Lincolnshire, UK) and they emmigrated to Natal Colony (South Africa) on board the Haidee in 1850. Henry was the second youngest of eight children born to James and Elizabeth Chatterton. His siblings were: Mary (b. 1809), Sarah (b. 1811), Ann (b. 1813), Hannah (b. 1816), Charles (b. 1819), Elizabeth (b. 1823) and John James (b. 1827). The family appear to have resided mainly at Kilham in Yorkshire, UK (which is where they may originally have come from).
I have details about most of Henry's descendents, although I have lost track of two branches of the family which subsequently emmigated to Canada and Australia. I have no details about any of Henry's ancestors or his siblings and their descendents.
I would love to hear from anyone out there working on related branches of the Chatterton family.
Best wishes
Craig Hilton-Taylor (great great Grandson of Henry C)
