Shelley,
Even though I am not a descendant of John Hall Chatham, I do want to say
that it's a wonderful thing that you're doing in trying to find a proper home
for the portrait that you rescued. You have obviously put considerable time
into researching lineage.
In an effort to help, I took the liberty of searching the family trees on
WorldConnect and found that several had been posted that included John Hall
Chatham (Sr., Jr., etc.). I am copying this message to the posters' email
addresses in the hope that one will be the direct descendent that you seek.
Thank you and best wishes.

I've "rescued" an old photograph of Jno. Hall CHATHAM III which was taken at
the Lee's Art Studio in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The photograph appears
to have been taken in the 1880's or 1890's with John just an infant at the
time it was taken. In addition to his name, someone has written "for his
Great Aunt" on the back of the photograph suggesting that it was a gift to
her at the it was taken.
Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information
regarding John and his family:
John Hall CHATHAM b. 7 Jun 1892 in Wayne Township, PA to parents John Hall
CHATHAM (b. 11 Nov 1847 in Wayne Township, PA) and Barbara Jane GRAMLEY (b.
Apr 1847 in Rebersburg, PA). John had 11 siblings including, Louis Clyde;
Bessie Grace; Nettie Blanch; Jennie Florence; John; Winnie Rae; Rhoebe
DeHass; Marie Eleanor; Mary Helen; Louella May; and an unnamed infant. All
were born in Wayne Township between 1870 and 1889.
John Hall CHATHAM III married Mary C. MILLER on 15 May 1915 in Jersey Shore,
PA and together they had 4 children. Census records provide the following
information:
1900 census of Wayne Township, PA:
John H. CHATHAM, age 52, born Nov 1847, married 30 years, born PA, parents
born PA, a Farmer
Barbara J. CHATHAM, wife, age 53, born Apr 1847, married 30 years, 11
children/8 living, born PA, parents born PA
Winnie R. CHATHAM, dau, age 20, born May 1880, born PA
Phebe D. CHATHAM, dau, age 18, born Mar 1882, born PA
Marie E. CHATHAM, dau, age 16, born Mar 1884, born PA
John H. CHATHAM Jr., son, age 7, born Jun 1892, born PA
I am hoping to be able to return the photograph to family. If you are a
member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley
