John,
I am Doyle Chatham. You didn't have my name in this message, but it is
possible that you are referring to me. Is it my messages that you are
unable to print?
I have had some others who have said they were at times having trouble
with my email.
I don't know why. I am not using a computer. I am using a webtv
receiver, with a remote wireless keyboard through my TV. If you receive
this please let me know.
If I wrote you it was about my grgrandfather, Isaac Chatham, whose
oldest son was named Benjamin, and who was listed in the 1850 Wilson
County, TN Census as being 17 years of age. Isaac, we think came from
Caswell County NC, and his first wife was a Cherokee Indian, and was
mother of all his children. His father disinherited him because he
marrid a Cherokee. Isaac's son William was my grandfather, and
heresided in Nashville, and Isaac later came to live with him. I do not
have a date of birth for Isaac, but the 1850 census listed hm as being
40.
It is possible that I am wrong, but from what you have written, I do not
think we are from the same line of Chathams. If you can print this, and
want more information about my line, let me know.
I am 92, and lived most of my life in Nashville ( was born in
Louisville, KY.), but am now in Clarksville, TN. I am a retired Baptist
ministerand live with my daughter who is an Episcopal minister.
My wife died in 2003.
I hope you can read this.

His dad spelled his name at times Chittam an Chatham. He came from Kent Parish England.
There is a Baptist Minister listed there in the 1600's. His name is John Knott Chatham.
