I am searching for information on the ancestry of Margaret Virginia
Chatham. She was born June 28, 1874 probably in Effingham, Ill or close
by, md May 20, 1895, and died Nov. 24, 1922. She was married to Elias
Banning who was a minister in Southern Illinois. She was known as
Maggie. Maggie had a sister Mattie who married Albert Stiger. Maggie's
father was William M. Chatham b. abt 1848.... possibly in Tennessee but
not documented. Maggie's mother was Mary A. ????? who died soon after
Maggie was born. William quickly remarried.
This line has been difficult to follow through the census. The family
is shown living apart, possibly with grandparents named Jones.
William Chatham had a shoe store and I have a photo of it that I would
love to share with family members.
I have followed many leads to TN, GA, VA, and MS, All I know for sure is
that they lived in Southern Illinois. I sure need help with this. I
have lots of info on other Chathams that didn't pan out for my line.
Hope to hear from you soon. Carol Marston
