My information which is "hand-me-down" aka unproven, is that Rausel/Roswell was injured during the battle in Saratoga ( I think he was shot in the hand or arm) which left him a disabled, angry, unhappy individual. Lydia Cole was a neighbor in Ontario County, New York who he went to Ohio with. She may have been a widow by then. This may or may not have been before his wife Sarah died but, it obviously split the family as some went to Michigan, some stayed in New York, and some went with him to Ohio.

So glad to find some one who knows something about Rausel (Roswell)
Chatfield and Sarah Sheffield. I come from the line of David who came to Ohio with Rausel and his other son Jesse. From what I can find out Jesse left to go north and was never heard from again. I have a Chatfield Bible belonging to Rausel Chatfield b. 3 September 1817 and m. Lucinda Sperry. My aunt aquired it several years ago and passed to me at her death.
I would like to connect (with some type of records -will census ect.)Rausel with Jesse his father. I have positive proof from myself to Rausel( b. 1765) but need positive proof Jesse (b. 1723) is Rausel's father. So glad you are about through with the Chatfield's. If I can help in any way let me know. I wondered what became of Sarah and the other children Rausel left in NY. Have often wondered if he just abandoned them. Some notations aunt Chloe has in her notes alude to this.
My Grandmother was named Lucinda Chatfield Henneman after her Grandmothers and her first three granddaughers were named after her.

I have listed Roswell Chatfield, David Chatfield and Asa Chatfield. Then I have 4 unknowns: 1 boy and 3 girls. Do you already have those individuals with their information?
