Stephen Chatfield, who settled in Troy, Oakland County,Michigan was a middle son of Rausel/Roswell Chatfield and wife Sarah Sheffield. Stephen probably came to Michigan from Ontario county, New York with his brother, Josiah Chatfield who settled in Mundy Twp. Genesee county, Michigan.
Rausel/Roswell and wife, Sarah, may have been divorced as she died in 1834 in Ontario County, and Roswell went to Ohio with sons David and Jesse, and married Lydia Cole in 1822.
I hope to have my research of this family on ancestry soon. Meanwhile this may help you with your research.

I tried sending a message to Robins email address but it is no longer in use so I'm hoping after all these years this message gets to her (or him?) I have an ancestor that was married to Lyman Chatfield from Lapeer county, Michigan. Her name was Mary Jane Stevens, she was the biological daughter or Abraham David and Julia Fisher, my great grandfather Jotham Stevens adopted Mary and Sarah when he married Julia. Now I see on your post that Janette was David Fisher's daughter and would like more information about that. Please contact me if you have any information on the Stevens/Fisher/Chatfield connections.
