MUSCATINE, Iowa - Rolland Frederick Chatfield, 73, Muscatine, formerly of Wilton, died Tuesday, July 19, 2005, at Veteran Administration Medical Center, Iowa City.
The Rev. Tom Zeleny will officiate the services. Musical selections will be provided by organist, Kathy Luethye, and vocalist, Henry Bentley. Casket bearers are Juston Crawford, Lorn Crawford, Brandon Crawford, Aaron Shoppa, Andrew Shoppa and John Boos. Honorary casket bearers are Kim Dacy, Amie Dacy, Michele Dacy, Mollee Shoppa and Araka Crawford. Burial, with military honors conducted by Wilton American Legion Post 548, will be at Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton.
Mr. Chatfield was born Sept. 7, 1931, in Muscatine, the son of Frederick and Isabelle Irwin Chatfield. He married Dorothy M. Libby on March 14, 1972, in Muscatine. She preceded him in death May 13, 2004.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean conflict.
He retired as a electrical engineer at Blackhawk Foundry, Davenport. He later worked for Plamor Lanes, Muscatine.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, swimming and his dog, Tasha.
Survivors include three daughters, Mandy Dacy and husband Paul of Grandview, Becky Phillips and husband Jim and Ellyn Shoppa, all of Muscatine; a son, Kirk Chatfield and wife Dorene of Muscatine; two stepdaughters, Loreta Hake and husband Sam of Eddington, Maine and Romona Perkins of Bangor, Maine; a stepson, Harry Lorom and wife Ginny of Newark, Del.; a brother, Walter Chatfield and wife Patricia of Ames; 10 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a daughter, Kim Elizabeth Chatfield; and a sister, Anna Lucille Zorn.

AMES, Iowa -- Walter Chatfield, 75, of Ames, died Sunday, April 26, 2009, at Green Hills Health Care Center in Ames.
Graveside service will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home.
Services in Ames include a visitation at the Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, with a funeral service at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care.
Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association Greater Iowa Chapter.
Walter Chatfield was born on December 30, 1933, on a farm near Muscatine, the son of Frederick and Anna Irwin Chatfield.
He graduated from Muscatine High School. He received his Bachelors of Arts Degree from Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois; he then received his Master of Arts from the University of Iowa; and did graduate work at Ohio State University.
He was a member of Iowa Lodge #2 A.F. & A.M. in Muscatine.
Walter was Professor Emeritus of Iowa State University in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, where he taught French and Spanish. He also worked in the Department of Education at Iowa State University overseeing student teachers across Iowa.
Walter is survived by his wife, Pat Chatfield of Ames; and nieces and nephews, Lynn Kelly, Kirk Chatfield, Ellyn Shoppa, and Rebecca Phillips, all of Muscatine, and Amanda Dacy of Grandview, Iowa.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Anna Lucille Zorn, and a brother, Rolland Frederick Chatfield.

WILTON, Iowa - Dorothy M. Chatfield, 74, of Wilton, died on Thursday, May 13, 2004, at her home.
Services are at the Bentley Funeral Home, Wilton. The Rev. Bruce Giese will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by organist Deb Mohr. Casket bearers will be Jim Phillips, Juston Crawford, Lorn Crawford, Brandon Crawford, Aaron Shoppa and Andrew Shoppa. Burial will be at the Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton.
Memorials may be sent to the Muscatine County Humane Society.
Dorothy M. Libby was born on April 14, 1930, to Manzer and Alice (Carr) Libby in Hampton, Maine. She married Rolland F. Chatfield March 14, 1972 in Muscatine.
Dorothy enjoyed playing bingo, camping, traveling, cooking, knitting, crocheting and animals.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Loreta (Mrs. Sam) Hake of Prospect, Maine and Romona Perkins of Minneapolis, Minn.; one son: Harry (and wife Ginny) Lorom of Newark, Del.; three stepdaughters, Ellyn Shoppa of Muscatine, Becky (Mrs. Jim) Phillips of Muscatine and Mandy (Mrs. Paul) Dacey of Grandview; one stepson, Kirk (and wife Dorene) Chatfield of Muscatine; one sister, Margaret Young of Oaland, Maine; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and 10 step-grandchildren.
