GREAT!!! WOW!!!
I couldn't get into freebmd---as their server is having problems at the times I can research.
I will be emailing you privately---as much of what you posted in VERY familiar---as I have other info of different branches I rcvd from my orders of documents found at freebmd.
As to the Chatfield info---that may have to wait---as what you posted will give me plenty to work on by myself for now.
I will be back in contact with you privately.
Thanks so much---you have really broken down a log jamb in my research---I didn't expect so much!!!
Sooner or later I WILL get the family back to Wales---as I have descriptions of relatives early 1800's grave sites in Welsh---just haven't been able get them worked into the tree in the right places yet.
Thanks again!!!
Best wishes on your Chatfield research---I'll be watching for you.
Carolyn

Hi Carolyn
Thank you for your email-right now where do i start??
I have been doing some digging and here are the results:
Ellen was a Davies by birth and she did marry twice-
Firstly to William Gee 1852
Secondly to William Chatfield 1875
I found this out by using freebmd and Ancestry.com and by trial and elimination.
She was born in Macclesfield around 1830/1831 to Peter and Sarah.
I assume this as in 1861 Ellen and hubby were living in Macclesfield with their children William,Alfred and Hannah and 4 doors away was Sarah Davies -widow- and son Richard who was unmarried aged 18.
To check to see if an Ellen was born to a Sarah i checked the 1841 census and found Peter aged 30,labourer, wife Sarah aged 35 and Ellen aged 10 along with William aged 8 and Ester aged 1.
The only way to confirm this is to order Ellen's marriage certificate to either Williams as then you will have the name of her father which you can then work on to find other family etc.
Ellen to William Gee-Macclesfield 1852 8a 167 June
So far the family come from Macclesfield - so no connections with Wales yet!!!
As for William Chatfield - his great grandfather is my 5x great grandfather's brother.
If you would like any info on them then please let me know.
I hope this helps - you aren't connected (so far) with my great grannie yet but as i have only just started that side of the family who knows what we might find!!!!
All the best with your research and if i can help any more please email me-

Hi Maxine,
RE: Chatfield, Gee, Davies connection---according to1881 British Census for Macclesfield, Cheshire record from LDS site.
The listing states William Chatfield b. Uttoxeter abt.1835 m. a widow Ellen Gee (as per listing of Williams step-daughters surnamed Gee).
Also lists nephew George Davies---who is my husbands Great Grandfather.
We have family stories naming the Gee Family as relatives somehow---but nobody remembers how---and now we find George living with the William Chatfield family---but don't know if he is nephew of Chatfield or Gee. Maybe Ellen Gee Chatfield b. about 1833 was a Davies. We don't know.
As I see Ann Davies 2nd wife of Charles Chatfield, listed in your querie/reply---I was wondering if the above William Chatfield might be one of your Great grandfather's sibling/cousins. And that Ann Davies might somehow be a connection I may need.
I know this is way off the beaten path for you---but if you might have something in the research material you received---going back to 1650 (how lucky you are) that might clear up this Davies/Gee/Chatfield mystery connection so that I might have a new direction for research.
Ancestors insisted they were Welsh, not English, and have had no luck getting them back to Wales. May need new direction of research to get them there.
I know this is a long shot---especially with a year old posting---but I just had to try.
Thanks---even if you don't reply.
Happy Hunting!
Carolyn
