I am trying to find information on Jane Chatfield born 1844 in Chailey, Sussex. She married my Gt Gt Grandfather - George Newton, in 1863. She died in 1881 and buried in Chailey churchyard.
If anyone has info on Jane and the Chatfields in Chailey it would be most appreciated !
Thanks - Darren Roberts

Just after WWII, played with a Robert Chatfield who used to live opposite our house in Galveston Road, Putney, London SW15. Robert was an only child and he was older than me, about the same age as my brother, that is four years, which would make him about 74 now. Robert was a wizz with radio and TV (his first job was concerned with such), had a huge selection of toy soldiers and equipment, ran several motor cycles; he was keen on shaft-driven motor-cycles. First he had a Velocette, then a Sunbeam and then a BMW. It was said that his father was German and his mother Irish. I think they moved in the early Fifties but I cannot be sure and I don't know where they moved to. Hope this helps someone with their research.
Hi all...Happy May Day!
Do any of you remember when this day was celebrated with May Poles and
flowers left on the doorsteps of friends and neighbors? It was such a lovely
custom...I hope it is still being done by children somewhere today.
It has been awhile since we've had a roll call, so please join in and share
with us information on the last CHATFIELD ancestor you researched. Use the
form shown below in your roll call response, and include as many names, dates and
locations for this person or generation as you can. Please remember to
change the Subject Line to your featured ancestor's name.
Our CHATFIELD list has grown larger this year, so if you haven't posted in a
while, this is your chance to let others know who is on the list and which
branches of the family you research.
Happy Hunting!
