Hi Maxine
Your reply is most interesting. I am afraid I don't have too much info on
William Webb Chatfield's parents. On the marriage certificate his father is
shown as George Chatfield and bookbinder as his trade and I have no info on
his mother at all.
Regards
Gordon

Hi Gordon
I would say that we are related as Cheadle is only 8 miles up the road from Uttoxeter.
Also "Webb" appears in my branch - my great great grandfather's uncle was named Webb as was his great uncle.
Do you have the name of William Webb's parents as at the moment i can't find a trace of his birth/christening.
Look forward to hearing more
Max

Hi Maxine
Thank you for your prompt reply.
William Webb Chatfield ( my greatgrandfather) born Cheadle Staffs 1832 married Emma Farmer
Leonard Farmer Chatfield (my grandfather) born Stoke-on-Trent 1872 married Hilda Simcock
William Leonard Chatfield (my father) born Stoke-on-Trent 1906 married Irene May Jennings
I am not sure we have a connection. What do you think?

Hi Gordon
All my Chatfield Ancestors originate from Uttoxeter and Doveridge ( 1 mile from Uttoxeter)
My great grandfather Charles b 1843 married twice:
Emma Orton
Ann Davies
His father was Thomas b1811 married Ann Potts
Thomas's father Joseph married Mary Blore and Joseph's father also named Joseph married Elizabeth Clay.
My great grandfather Charles had 9 children with Emma:
Emily Ann,Alfred Thomas, Arthur, Sydney, Charles Orton, James William, Frederick John,Leonard and George Henry.
With Ann he had another 4:
Lily
Mabel Agnes
Bertie- my grandfather
John Philip
Thomas only had 2 children that survived into adulthood
Charles and Alfred George.
There were however 5 siblings and numerous aunts and uncles as the Chatfields all had large families.
So i would say that chances are you are related somewhere - if you could give me some facts i could check it out for you and see if they fit.
Through my research i have managed to go back to 1750 but lookily for me i have received other research material from a very generous lady that has now led our tree back to 1658
Hope this helps
Max

I'm having a bit of a problem getting connected to your replies through my Juno e-mail. Would it be possible for you to e-mail me directly at p/a/b/a/f/e/r/d(a)Juno.com. Please eliminate all the / marks in my address. I am doing this because I understand spammers quickly pick up on e-mail addressees used online. We can check out the Chatfields further. Thanks, Barbara

Hi Barbara
Not sure if we're connected as i have not studied the siblings of either my great great grandfather Thomas or my great grandfather Charles yet.
Who was the father of Arthur ? I could then hopefully find alot more out about that branch.
My dad and his siblings still live in Uttoxeter as do i which is very handy when doing research.

Hi Noel
Don't know if we're connected as i've only traced mine back to Uttoxeter and Doveridge.
My great grandfather was CHARLES ch 1843 and he married EMMA ORTON c1839 and my great great grandmother ANN DAVIES b 1862.
Charles' father was THOMAS c1811 ( Doveridge) and he married ANN POTT.
Thomas' father was JOSEPH c1781 who married MARY BLORE in DOVERIDGE.
Joseph's father was also named JOSEPH c1750 and he married ELIZABETH CLAY in DOVERIDGE.
There are 2 possibilities for Joseph's father :
THOMAS who married ELIZABETH WORRALL
or
RICHARD who married ELIZABETH HIXON
I have more research to do so who knows what i'll find.
Please let me know if you find anything.
Best wishes
Max

My great-grandfather was Arthur Chatfield christened 4 Mar 1859 at Uttoxeter. He married Olivia Charlesworth in Burton-on-Trent in 1878. She was christened at Brown Edge.
Do you connect to that branch, or have you been in touch with a Geoffrey Chatfield who has done extensive research on Chatfields in the Uttoxeter area and brought the line back to the 1650's.
My Chatfields moved to Devon in 1901 or so and I have been in touch with a couple more recent family members but none are into genealogy.
