Subject: Chaters
Dear Liz,
We corresponded back in 2004 about my Chaters (but I've had no chance to
follow them up in the meantime, unfortunately). I'm not sure if I'm still on
the Chater list, but can't see any correspondence for yonks.
Just checking to make sure that researchers are aware of a photo in the
Black Country Bugle for 5 January, issue 697, of a grocery shop in Hurst
Green, near Blackheath, owned by the Willetts family, about 1935-6. Included
in the photo is Mrs Sally Hadley, nee Chater.
The writer of the attached article is married to Mrs Hadley's daughter. If
anyone's interested, it should be possible to contact the writer and his
wife via the Bugle. Would be useful if you could forward this message to the
list (and then I'll also discover whether I'm still on it).
The writer also gives a sketch of what Hurst Green was like when he was
growing up in the 1950s.
Best wishes,
Christine (Buckley)
