James David and John are both sons of Dillim and Nancy. They married sisters, Margaret and Louiza Jane. You are "right on the money" with your line.

Crystal,
I am very familiar with both Dillim and Nancy. She disappeared from record by 1840 in SC. Dillim remarried a Delilah Raines or Rainwater. He then moved to Pendleton Dist., SC by 1850. The 2 Chastain daughters the other post mentioned are the daughters of William and Annie Motes Chastain. Although I have not been able to prove a relation to Nancy, it is suspected. Dillim was still alive in Rabun County, Georgia in 1860 and living in the Pine Mountain District, along with sons John and James David. Dillim was listed on the salt records here. That was the last documentation I have of him. As John and James David married sisters, they traveled together. John died prior to 1870 and his wife eventually remarried William Holland. James David and Margaret moved to Macon County, NC (after a move to Jackson County, NC) and they are both buried there.
As for Dillim, his birth name was Dillim David Vincent/Vinson. I have no documentation on his parents, but believe (only speculation) he is a relative (probably a nephew) of William Vinson and Ezekial Vinson of Greenville County, SC. Both of these men had sons named David also, and Dillim David moved to be near them before moving to Oconee County. Nancy probably died in Greenville as the spouse's information changed for Dillim after the birth of his last son. Delilah also disappeared after David in Rabun County.
I am a descendant through his son James David (my father's side) as well as through Margaret Chastain (my mother's side).
You noted that you were looking this up for someone else. Do you mind if I ask who? Reply to my personal e-mail phillipsfamily4(a)windstream.net

I'm a Chastain descendant and noticed your posts. I don't have anything on Dillim Vinson, but Volume 1 of Pierre Chastain and His Descendants shows that two daughters of William Chastain and Annie Motes married Vinsons. Margaret Chastain (b circa 1830) married David Vinson and Louisa Jane Chastain (b circa 1834) married John Vinson. William is of the same generation as your Nancy (born about 1790). Between the 1790s and the 1820s they moved from Buncombe County, NC to the Old Pendleton District of SC.

I saw the death date on Ancestry. But I can't remember where. It may or may not be right. I was hoping that by adding the death date I might get a hint. But didn't work. These are 2 mystery people that seem to have appeared out of no where. If you find anything please let me know. If I find anything I'll be happy to pass it along.
Crystal

Hi Crystal,
I have been researching Dillim and Nancy for many years. Your post caught my eye as it included a year of death for Dillim. Could you please advise me where the date came from? Of all the documents I have collected, I have never been fortunate enough to find the date or location of Dillim's death- only my own speculation. Could you PLEASE share this information with me? Also, your name is familiar. Have we spoken before? Thanks so much for your reply. Joy Vinson Phillips
