Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
'Ed' Chasteen
Greenville
Leamond Edward "Ed" Chasteen, 79, died Sunday, March 19, 2006, at Fountain
Inn Nursing Home.
Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late Dave and Tweetie Mae Poole
Chasteen. He was retired from Carolina Blouse Company.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Lori and Alan Martin of Pelzer,
Tracey and Matt Johnson of Victorville, Calif; son and daughter-in-law, Mike
and Theresa Chasteen of California; two nephews, Steve and Terry; niece,
Tammy; and three grandchildren, Danielle Kellett, Chareen Chasteen and Felicia
Chasteen.
He was predeceased by a brother, Willie Chasteen.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
The family will be at 2 Deer Forest Lane, Pelzer and will receive friends 7
to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

Ray C. Chastain
Pickens
Ray Clifford Chastain, 64, husband of Norma Yates Chastain, of 542 Old
Bethlehem School Road, went home to join his granddaughter, Hyland Ray Byers, and
their Puppy Freedom, March 11, 2006.
Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late William F. Chastain and Mae
Gillespie Chastain and attended Rock Springs Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Rachelle Byers of Easley;
son, Kevin Chastain, Madeline and Bridgette White of Easley; sister-in-law,
Bert Chastain of Central; and a very special friend, Caroline Lucas.
A brother, Paul Chastain also predeceased him.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 13, 2006, in the
chapel of Dillard Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park
Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today, March 12, 2006 at
the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Easley Christian School, 461 Saco Lowell Road,
Easley, SC 29640.
The family is at the residence.

Hyland R. Byers

Our Little Angel from God, Hyland Ray Byers, 9, of 205 Lloyd Ave., went home
to be with her Lord on March 6, 2006.
Born on Oct. 8, 1996, in Greenville County, she was a daughter of Jonathan
and Rachelle Chastain Byers. Hyland was a third-grader at Easley Christian
School and attended Rock Springs Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her grandparents, Ray and Norma
Chastain of Pickens, Carole and Melvin Alexander of Pickens, and David and
Sylvia Byers of Vale, N.C.; great-grandmother, Eva Yates of Pickens; aunts and
uncles, Kevin Chastain of Easley, Amanda and Jay Stewart of Pickens, Saronna
Yates of Pickens, Darla Yates of Easley, and Larue and Katie Yates of Central;
and several cousins.
She was predeceased by great-grandparents, Adger and Bessie Hayes, Elmer
Yates and William F. Chastain.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2006, in the
chapel of Dillard Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park
Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be Keagan Black, Chris McClain, Heath Cassell and Zachary
Crooks. Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Willis and her third-grade class at
Easley Christian School.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2006, at
the funeral home.
