I've been searching for a picture of my great grandparents:
John Harrison Davis, born 1861 Macon, GA, died 1888 Ark. -
married 1883 Van Buren Co., Ark. - to Nancy LUCINDA CHASTAIN, born 1865,
Wolf Bayou, Arkansas; died 1891 Cleburne Co., Ark.
Nancy LUCINDA Chastain is buried at Chastain Chapel Cem. at Tumbling Shoals,
Cleburne Co., Ark. and was the daughter of
Calvin Chastain and Cyntitha (Dill) Chastain - also bur. at Chastain Chapel
Cem.
There was a big tornado which hit Cleburne Co., Ark. so all of my immediate
families' pictures were blown away back in 1916, I'm told. I would just love
to find some one who might have a picture of this couple.
Thanks for checking.\

I got my downline from Jerre Buland, and she gave it to me that way down to Martha patsy; and I had it from then on to now through my own research.
I hve never done the research to recheck her list - assuming she of all people would know.
If you think you are right, I'll go into the PCFA book and see if I can confirm either way.

Jo; Is my Chastain book incorrect: In your last e-mail you stated that
Joseph Rene Chastain was married to Marthy Patsy Page. According to my book
Joseph Renny Chastain (on page 289) was the son of Solomon Chastain, and he
marriedJane Carter. The Renny Chastain who married Martha Patsy Page was the son
of Peter Chastain and Elizabeth Howle. Please correct me if I am incorrect.

Hello listers!
I would like to have a picture of Elijah Webb
Chastain (1813-1874) for the next issue of "The

Thanks,

I photographed this gravestone in the Mount Olivet Cemetery - Sam Houston Section, Fort Worth, Tarrant Co., Texas. Feel free to use the picture for your personal records.

It should be pointed out, and cannot be stressed too strongly: The
house believed to be Pierre's is a private home on a very private road.
It is not, and never has been, open for tours (except for the brief time
it was for sale). It is, however, well worth the trip just to visit the
Huegenot Headquarters library and the church(es) nearby.
For some reason the message that I posted on the 17th (see below) never
showed up, but fortunately Bill must have been a mind reader because he
answered all of my questions anyway. <VBG>
We travel in our motorhome for 5-6 months at a time and we take advantage
of those travels to do continuing genealogy research by visiting the areas
of the country where our ancestors lived. We'll be sure to visit the
Richmond area again this year on our return trip to FL and hopefully will
be able to tour Pierre's home also.
Thanks again Bill for the vivid description of the area.
Dee in FL
>Bill, thanks so much for the info. We spent a number of weeks about 60
miles north of Richmond a couple of years ago and even drove down to the
Richmond area to visit quilt shops a couple of times. How strange to think
that I must have been so close to where my 7th great grandfather and his
family had lived.
>
>I went to the website and looked at Pierre's house. It gives the address
as 1000 Huguenot Trail, but when I put that address using Richmond as the
town into Street Atlas 2004 it came up with 1000 Huguenot Road (SR 147)
which is west of Richmond and just north of Hwy 60. We had used that road
to skirt the town of Richmond on our way to Midlothian.
>
>When I tried searching for the same address, but used Powhatan County
versus Richmond, it came up as being 2 to 3 miles northwest of the other
location in the town of Midlothian, but still south of the James River. In
the mapping program, Huguenot Trail is also called SR 711.

What great information to have. Thank you so much for sharing all these
insights of Pierre's house. Someday, perhaps I will get to stand in that spot and
think of how it must have been for Pierre and his family. I'm so grateful
the site has been maintained!!!

Dee; Forgive me for joining in this little discussion. If you have the
first volume of Pierre Chastain and his Descendants. This covers the first five
generations in America. It has pictures as his house looks now, and there
is also a picture of his sword which on display at the museum for a while,
pictures of the Huguenot site and church. The Chastain Reunion was held in
Virginia and we took a tour to the above site in 2000. My husband and I went
and it was a wonderful experience. I believe that there are still some books
remaining of Volume I for sale. Just thought I would throw in my 2 cents
worth.
Your couzin, Rose Chastain Taylor
William,
Thank you for this fun link!
I did not know his home still existed.
Is there a photo of his gravesite online, and are there any other links to
photos/scans of original Pierre Chastain artifacts of documents?
Thank you,
Victoria

Birth or death date?
