Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Part of this is correct. Marianne Chastain b. ca 1715 and who married
Benjamin Witt, was the dau of Jean Adam Chastain & his 1st wife, Marianne
_______. Jean Adam is the eldest son of Pierre Chastain and his 1st wife,
Susanne Reunaut
So that makes Marianne (Chasain) Witt a gr dau of Pierre Chastain.

Honey, I've ALWAYS been proud to be a CHASTAIN, since long before
anybody heard of Brandi! It's always nice to have one more reason to be
proud.
>>>Plan to attend the PCFA Reunion in Jackson, MS, September 21-23<<<
Here's a webpage telling about Brandi. If you find out which line she's
from, please let us all know.

She was terrific in that World Soccer game....I'll never forget it! I was
proud to be a CHASTAIN!

Oops! In the message I just sent, I used an earlier message about
Briand/Bryant to the list to get the list address (being lazy!) and forgot
to delete that message from the bottom of my new one about the cemetery in
Powhatan Co., VA. Excuse the confusing goof, please!
Polly
Dear cousins:
About two years ago I wrote to the list requesting help in protesting the
proposed construction of Hwy 288 in Powhatan Co., VA. As proposed, the
highway will destroy a historic cemetery on the property known as "Terre
Haute Farm," which in the mid 1700s was owned by my 5-great-grandparents,
David LeSueur and Elizabeth Chastain (daughter of Dr. Pierre and Ann Soblet
Chastain). The property has been owned by the Harris and Hudson families
since the late 1700s.
Some of you graciously joined the fight, and together we bombarded the
Virginia bureaucrats with protest letters. Now Mrs. Hudson, present owner
of Terre Haute, has asked us to make a last-ditch effort to save the
cemetery from destruction.
Please write the strongest letters possible to the two officials whose names
and addresses appear below and let them know that we protest the placement
of the highway through this historic cemetery. We would greatly appreciate
your help. Thank you.
Following is a copy of a message I've sent to all my LeSueur cousins and
other family members.

Subject: Urgent! Terre Haute Farm, David LeSueur's property - historic
cemetery
Dear family:
Please ask all your relatives to write to the two
people whose names are listed below. This is the continuing fight which we
began in 1998-1999, but now it has come down to the wire. This is it!
Please, please write and mail your letters immediately! We need to let
these people know that the LeSueur and Chastain families are not deserting
Jean Hudson, whose family has been such good stewards of the David LeSueur
property since the 1700s.
The message below from Jean Hudson's daughter Sarah was rec'd on my computer
while I was out of the country (in Spain) for nearly three weeks. I urge
you all to again join me in this protest. We simply cannot stand by and
watch silently while yet another bit of our heritage is plowed under and
concreted over in the name of progress, and particularly not a historic
cemetery!
Please word your letters in the strongest possible terms so that these
officials will understand that we are seriously protesting the placement
of Route 288 through the cemetery.
Once again the Hudson family has enlisted the support of all LeSueur and
Chastain descendants in their continuing fight against the Virginia
Department of Cultural Resources and the Virginia Department of
Transportation. This is a last-ditch effort to prevent Route 288 from being
built right through the historic cemetery located on Terre Haute Farm, the
property in Powhatan County, which was owned until the mid 1700s by our
ancestors David LeSueur and his wife Elizabeth Chastain (daughter of Dr.
Pierre Chastain). Jean's family has owned the property since that time.
It is imperative that, as before, we continue to support Jean in this
struggle. Please, please send letters of protest to the following two
people, to be received NO LATER THAN MAY 23, 2001, and also phone
them to express your opposition to the proposed placement of Route 288
right through the historic cemetery. These people are Jean's only hope of
forestalling the construction of this highway which will destroy the
cemetery forever.

I would appreciate your sending me a copy of the letters you send. I will
forward them to Mrs. Hudson. My address is Polly Dixon; 9400 Doliver #23;

If you get an answer, let us all know...I know they can't be "attached" to a
Rootsweb message so they would have to be uploaded to the PCFA website. I,
too, have many old pictures of my Chastain family.

Hi everyone,
Larry Jelf sent me some of his pics he had scanned and I uploaded them onto a web page for everyone to see if they're interested. Also if you have any pics you'd like to see up there for everyone to view I'll be happy to add them. If you send any be sure to let me know who the folks are and I'd prefer .jpg files but I guess any kind of pic file would work, I don't know. I've only messed with .jpg files ha. Here is the url for the pics:

Some time ago there was a brief discussion of how various Chastains
looked. I said that I had some photos of my branch which I was willing
to share. How could I do that through rootsweb? I would rather not send
each to all Chastains separately.
Does anyone know if Brandi Chastain, Women's World Cup team member, is one of
ours? I am doing a project on famous descendants for Manakin Huguenot

Hey there, Larry,
Baptismal date for Pierre Chastain was 9 Apr 1659 in Issoudun, Prov. of
Berri, France. There was no middle name. I have some advice for you - don't
believe everything you see in print - or on the internet without
documentation.
Pierre 's Will was proved 20 Nov 1728, Goochland Co., VA
Geraldine Buland, PCFA Genealogist
While still going through piles of notes I have many that I need
clarification for.
I have conflicting dates for the death of Rev. John Chastain: 1740 or 1743.
Birth dates for Pierre Sr. : 9 April, 1659, 4 Sept. 1659, or these dates
could be in 1660, 1663, 1669
Death of Pierre Sr. 3/13 Oct. 1723/28/ 29
I have a middle name of Louis for Pierre Sr.
Maybe if Allison Chastain/Burton sees this she can answer this: In her
lineage posted on Chastain -L she listed mother but somehow there seems
to be a missing generation or so.
Y
Are there three John Middletons? I ask not so much to ascertain that
there are but to indicate that I am getting some scrambling of info on
these Johns.
1. I have one born 1680, m: 1. ?? 2. Sarah, he had James who had Anna.
2. Son of Nathan Middleton. m: 1873, Cloe Chastain
3. b. 1796/97 (by Thomas) m: Jemima Mimi Denton 1815.
I have Sat. 29 Jan. 2000 Chastain-L letter with a line" from the will of
John Middleton Sr. 1795." I have his death in 1744. His wife is
indicated as Elizabeth but I don't have an Elizabeth for any of these
Johns nor do I have a daughter Elinor for any of them, or a son Richard
or John. The will states a Susannah-I haven't one (maybe I didn't know
where she belonged).
If one of these Johns is father and one son which is which?
There will be more questions as I uncover others.
