NOTICE TO MEMBERS OF THE PIERRE CHASTAIN FAMILY ASSOCIATION
If you have any information that you want printed in The Chestnut Tree such
as Chastain family events, or new data about some of your Chastain ancestors,
or any article you have written (and proved) about your Chastain ancestors,
please send the data to me at your earliest convenience.
I will take over as editor of The Chestnut Tree until such time as a new
editor can be found. I would prefer to receive the data by snail mail at my
address below particularly if you send photograph(s); however, you can try to
send e-mail as long as you don't send it by attachment. I use WordPerfect 9
and sometimes I can't received attachments.
My snail mail address is:
Mrs. Loyce Coolidge (501) 521-5215
2176 E. Honeysuckle LoyceC(a)aol.com
Fayetteville, AR 72703-7037
Send your data as soon as possible. Marv Chastain already has the next issue
at the printers so the issue I will be working on will probably be the
October issue. It just takes so much time to get it printed, then get it to
the post office, and finally have the postal service to get it in the mail
(at their leisure).
Thanks for your help.
Loyce
Hello lists- so far I have no known blood link to any of ya'll but I right now I am doing regional research. Specifically on Cherokee CO., NC and surrounding areas, including but not limited to : Union Co., GA, Rabun Co., GA, Swain Co, NC, Macon Co., NC. Right now I am in the process of cataloging cemeteries in Cherokee Co. Any info on any cemeteries in this area that any of ya'll are familiar with would be greatly appreciated. Also, for the cemeteries I have finished, I am trying to collect short biographies from relatives or people who knew them. Should you wish to contribute (for which I will be eternally grateful!) you will be recognized as the contributor and unless otherwise notified I would like to include your email address as the contributor so ppl can contact you. Alos, I accept no responsibility for the veracity of the information that is donated. My website is very new, ans so far I only have three cemeteries listed : Whitmore Cemetery in Murphy, NC; Mt.!
Liberty Cemtery (Roers Chapel) in Murphy, NC; and Derreberry Cemetery in Peachtree, NC. I am currently working on about 15 other cemeteries trying to get thm up and ready to go; but it is slow going :-) so bear with me! The names so far that I have found prevalent in the area are: Stiles, Beaver/Beavers, Hughes, Chastain, Hall, Ledford, Loudermilk/Lowdermilk, McCLuree interim, most of this information is on Find a Grave at www.findagrave.com
so go there and check it out in the meantime!! I think that is all I have for now, and please, any information, let me know. My email is neblett(a)alltel.net
Thanks again,
Nikki Neblett

PS... hi LINDA! HI REID! :-)
The March 28, 2001 edition of our local weekly newspaper, The Mountain
Sun had a large photo of some of the ancestors (1900) of some of our
local people. One name stood out because there are probably better that
30 of them in my family. These are the Dentons of Texas. The one
Denton in the photo was Mary Louise Denton Gibbens. Is she connected to
any of the Dentons who are then connected to the Chastains? I sure
would like to know. There were10 adults and two very young children and
one baby. The family names were Ray, Barton, and Gibbens, except for
Denton and Snodgrass.
