Just received news from Paula Cox that her husband Charlie passed away very
suddenly December 16, 2000. Many of you have undoubtedly corresponded with
Charlie or met him at a reunion. He was very active in the mailing list and
research of the James and Delphia Dewberry Chastain descendants. Very sorry
to hear of Charlie's passing.

A forward from Anita Bradford concerning work being preformed by Gwen
Skelton and others on transcribing the 1910 Fannin County, Georgia census.
Should be an excellent resource for those of us who have roots in Fannin
County.

Please stop getting suckered in by email hoaxes.
go to www.urbanlegends.about.com and read them all for yourself.
You can even find a kit of appropriate replies to this waste of telephone
line time.
Study what it says about how to spot a hoax and you will see. Jeff Weems is
listed in the directory of that college, but have you tried to verify if he
really exists, or really did this spamming? THINK BEFORE YOU CLICK!

TITLE: The Huguenot Society of the Founders of Manakin
DESCRIPTION: Beginning in 1700, King William granted land to Huguenots,
west of what is now Richmond. It was the only colony intended to be
exclusively for French Protestants. This is a society of the descendants

Hello Cousins
My name is Sheila Chastain Rowe of Longview Texas.
please reply if you have any connections to my list below. Thanks!
My father Leroy Rex Chastain of Harleton TX
his father William Fred Chastain of Ore City TX
his father William Newton Chastain of Daingerfield TX
his father John Withrow Chastain of Georgia circa 1824
here it gets interesting William Newton had a brother named James J. who
settled in the same area . He and wife Saraha lived in Morris
county(Daingerfield). James J. and Saraha's children were: John H. born Ga.,
Lilly M. born Tennessee,James E. born Ga., Olia born Texas 1888.
Back to John Withrow Chastain, his children according to Union county Ga.
census were: Margaret born 1848
James J. born 1852
Wm N. born 1855 (William Newton above)
John A. born 1859
male child?Jasin born 1862?
Well in 1920 Morris county Tx census William Newton Chastain has in his
household a nephew named Samual age 28 born Ga. I can not find him in James
J. Chastain household so am looking for who his father is. I am thinking his
father would be John A. or the youngest sibling of William Newton the
"Jasin".
Also note that my grandfather Fred was married first to Lola Wheeler
and their children are:
Madelyn Pauline 1904-1968
William Authur 1907-1968,
Jessie Cleveland 1910-1935,
Alvin Barney 1911-1992,
Ollie Edward 1917-1986,
Clyde F. 1919-1970
I have little knowledge about any 1/2cousins from the above 1/2 siblings to
my father Leroy Rex Chastain. I am in contact with cousins in California
related to Alvin Barney and Madelyn.
I understand that Jessie had sons Don and Joe Dan and one or both moved to
Memphis Tennessee.
Please reply if you recognize a connection. My mail address is
