Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Had message from Kay Knight Clark about traveling thru Tennessee and the upcoming reunion...sent info but my carrier claims insuficient address...since I am computer ignorant, can someone help. Address Email is ,<clark(a)moment.net> but seems the first part is not on the address...Myra Elizabeth Chastain...
Dionne Hello!
I am going through my emails getting rid of the ones I do no need anymore.
Your email
regarding the Chastain Reunion was still in my list.
Pete and I were in Chattanooga last year also.
I noticed the name Lorenzo Dow Chastain, your grandfather.
Are you related to Lorenzo Dow-ell Mullins.
I am descended from among others Brightberry Gentry Chasteen. His 2nd wife
was Julia Ann Mullins.
Thanks,
Pat

My son-in-law is an electronics engineer. He always make my daughter unplug
their computer during an electrical storm. If I'm on line and hear thunder,
I immediately get out of whatever I'm working on and unplug my computer.
Loyce Coolidge
I recently fried another modem in a storm. Anyone who has been in
contact with me; I need your email addressese again. Trying to round up
all that I can find. Lost everything, letters, addresesese, bookmarks,
the whole bit. Do have some hard copiese thank heaven!
To List:
Just in case anyone missed or doesn't understand Duane Chism's message,
the Bud Frog screen saver warning is a hoax, not a real virus. McAfee
keeps a list of real viruses and another list of virus hoaxes. If
anyone sends you a virus warning you should check the McAfee and
Symantec Web sites before sending it on. More often than not it's a
hoax. McAfee and Symantec sell anti-virus software. Their lists are
generally up-to-date and are completely trustworthy.
Robert Chastain Smythe
Thank you Robert for the excellent clarification and instructions...it's save
a lot of time and prevents panics...I have Symantec's whole suite of
programs, inculding Anti-Virus protection w/the regular automatic updates
installed on ALL my computers (4).
Cheers, Teekeela A. Williams
Glad to have someone reply. A older relative E. W. Chastain almost certainly
has more information than I. I do not have his e-mail address but maybe he
will respond to this.
Bob Blackwell
Here's a good site for virus hoaxes -- the Bud Frogs are in this catagory.

I live outside of Richmond, Virginia and plan to drive in and attend reunion.
How do I register for the reunion and receive schedule of events?
Jo Ann Marshburn
Bob,
I am delighted to learn you will be attending the reunion this year. You
should be receiving a draft copy of the program shortly.
I look forward to meeting you.
Sincerely,
Del
Dear Del,
I did not think there was any way for me to get to the reunion this year
because of my wife's condition. However, I have talked her twin sister into
going with us and so I made reservations today for the hotel and sent
Marquetta a check for the food reservations.
I am so happy to get to go because we had plane reservations for the reunion
last time it was in Richmond. That was the year of the comptrollers strike
and our flights were cancelled. We are driving this year.
I am anxious to meet you and many of the others I have not met, and renew
acquaintences of those I have met.
So count on Robert and Maxine Leishman and Nadine Beckenbach.
See you soon,
Robert Leishman
PCFA Historian
Loyce,
I always look for your name somewhere as part of the "The Chestnut Tree" to
see what you are doing. Then, I know it is in good hands. Your working on
"..VOULME II" now, arn't you? I have really used the Volume I so far. I
have got people that are looking for Chastains on to your book. I have at
least 6-8 people that have found their way back to Pierre Chastain because
of the book. Keep up the good work.
Bill

Hi, Bill -
I am the same Loyce Coolidge - been there and done that (everything you
mentioned). Am now living in Fayetteville, AR near my daughter. Would
rather be back in Texas but since the death of my beautiful little sister in
September 1998, I've needed the support of my daughter. This has been a
rough two years without little sister. Never knew when I didn't have a
sister because I was only 15 months to the day older than she was and we were
always so close.
Thanks, Bill, for your kind words.
Could this be the Loyce Coolidge from Alexandra, VA, then to TX, and then (I
think) Little Rock, AR??? I've still got your letters about starting the
"The Chestnut Tree" and all the "..Tree" s since then. If you are you
should have a big "pat on the back". You and Gerre Buland have contributed
more than anyone to the Chastain Family. Thanks!!!
William George "Bill" Chastain

Haven't had the chance to look at this site but thought someone might
find it interesting.
URL: http://compter.org/
TITLE: The COMPTER website; calling all COMPTERS !
DESCRIPTION: We are doing extensive research into the "COMPTER"
family
tree & are hoping to find others sharing our rare surname. It's thought
that the "COMPTERS" were Huguenots fleeing from France to neighbouring
countries. We know that many settled in Germany (Pflaz)& also the
Netherlands Delft & later from Germany to USA.We are willing to share
infomation with anyone called "COMPTER"& urge them to contact us.
Sorry Bill, but no. She was born in Kentucky.
Take care
Pat
