So Bob, You trace back through William and Anne (Motes)Chastain as well? I
am very interested in corresponding with any and all of the descendants of
William and Anne Chastain that I can get in touch with. Please respond to
SKPearson(a)email.msn.com
I descend from their son Thomas Jefferson Chastain who died in the battle at
Gaines Mill VA., near Richmond June 27, 1862. He had only two daughters. I
have a picture of Thomas in uniform if anyone desires to see it. I will not
send an attachment to the list so you will have to respond directly. Steve

And William and Annie's first child was also William (b.11/20/1811). He
married Martha Jones and one of their children was Greenbury Chastain (b.
1/02/1835), my great, great GF. DI have been told he was an engineer, went
bankrupt and left GA for Alabama where he died. Does anyone have more
information on him -- when he died and what happened to him?

Peter,
As far as I know, nothing formal is happening on Sunday. In the past
there has been a Sunday brunch, but I see nothing about it in any of the
material Del has sent me. For detailed information, you should consult
the exec VP or the President.

Hi Jinny and all:
This is a copy of a message I sent to my LeSueur cousins, and hope it clears
up a bit of confusion about the the daughter of David Lesueur and Elizabeth
Chastain, who was the daughter of Pierre Chastain and Ann Soblet. David
LeSueur and his second wife, Elizabeth Chastain, had a daughter named
Elizabeth who married Samuel Short. Thought I'd send this along to
Chastain-L so that it's in the records. -- Hope to see you all in
ichmond. -- Polly

I have meaning for some time to ask this question. In a letter from
Gerre she tied Abner to Annie Motes. She should know but I have Annie
married to William
Chastain. Am I then wrong? Was there a 2nd marriage?
Hi everyone, I cannot be there this year .I wish I could be. Last year I was
there. It was ggreat. The best thing I ever did. Have fun everyone. Gloria

We cannot make it this year but would like to know how to subscribe to The
Chestnut Tree. Is it about the Chastain family? Vernon and Billie Holt

My Georgia 1860 census shows a Pinkney Chasteen living in the home of
William and Malissa Patrick in Carnesville, Franklin CO GA. P. 603 He
shows up again at the same residence on the 1870 census of franklin
county still living in the Patrick household, listed as a farm laborer
age 14. He was listed in 1860 as being 6 years old. I don not beleive
this Pinkney is in my direct line.
The Pinkney Chasteen that was my Great Grandfather's brother was born
about 1864 in Pendleton SC. His parents were Martha and Allen Chasteen.
His dad Allen was killed in the Civil War in Virginia. Wilton O. (Bill)
Chasteen stated that Pink was a great outdoorsman and would often spend
many days on end hunting and fishing. He lived in and around Pendleton SC
until about 1880. He became a millworker. He fathered a son but I dont
know his wifes name. The son Grover Chasteen had two sons Gover Jr and
Billy B. DOB unknown. Grover Jr. died in Columbia SC in Feb 1988. Billy B
died and is survived by his widow Mary Derrick in Columbia. Address was
listed as Malcolm Dr. in 1991. Billy B. and Mary had a son named Grover
III of Great Falls SC. This is all the info I have. They were named
Grover Cleveland Chasteen (tain).
Source testimony of Wilton chasteen and Vanessa Chasteen Sessoms and
Melvin Chasteen.

You are right of course. I recalled the Morell name of the first wife
, but not whether the child was a boy or girl. Sorry about that. Barbara
and I hope to attend. See you there! Jim Anderson
