Marvelous news! Many thanks to Ray Chastain for offering to do this for his
cousins.

I hear that Loyce - I was doing that too before I put the controls on. But I
do really feel bad that people cannot get to me unless I put their personal
email address in the list of acceptable mail. Seems as though I am forever
saying "I'm sorry."

Don't worry. I know exactly what you mean about aol and their junk mail;
however, I get so much e-mail from members with data on their lines that I
just have to keep mine open. When I get cyberprostitution junk, I send it to
TOSSpam and aol prosecutes them. That is more important to me.
CHASTAIN FAMILY,
CHASTAIN FAMILIES, IF YOU EMAILED ME, I know longer have your email
address or snail mail address.

Loyce - I have mail controls on because I am on AOL and they have so much
junk going around that I don't want. I have the "list" address in, and I
have Gerre's and Marvin's, but I really was sincere when I said that "it
doesn't matter". We are talking about a stillborn infant - and factually
speaking only - since it didn't live, it has no descendants of its own, and
therefore is inconsequential. Now I suppose I will be bombarded with
comments from people that say "it is important". That is not what I mean,
but to try and make a better explanation will only dig my grave deeper. The
other part of that - I don't have "proof positive" that the infant wasn't
born other than family members memory. So therefore - can't prove either
way. Thank you for trying to contact me - sorry my return address is such a
pain.

Dear list,
I am a new subscriber and not familiar with everything as yet. Would
like to know more about "The Book" and what it contains and the cost.
I Descend from James Chasteen RWS, b. ca. 1760 and Sarah Witt Canadey.
They had a daughter Nancy who married a William Durham. Sarah Witt was
the daughter of William Guilluame Witt.
I know this James is not a son of Rev. James Sr, son of Peter, but I
think he may be a son of the Rev. John.
All contributions to this line are gladly accepted and I will share what
I have as well,
Hope to get to know everyone soon,
Darrell Edward Miller

Hi, Darrell -
Welcome to the Pierre Chastain Family Association. Our association has been
in existance since 1975. Gerre Buland is our genealogist but she is in the
process of moving and I'm sure you will hear from Jimmy Chesteen regarding
your ancestor.
"The Book" you refer to is Vol. I of PIERRE CHASTAIN AND HIS DESCENDANTS
which was published in 1995. You can order this book from our librarians
whose names and address are:
Mr. & Mrs. Herschel Chastain (601) 264-8264
312 Knight Road
Sumrall, MS 39482
Check with them to see if they still have copies of the reprint book and the
price. Think it is $29.50.
Bob Leishman (historian), Gerre Buland (genealogist) and I (Loyce Coolidge,
editor) are currently working on Vol. II of this book. I have just completed
an "Errata and Addenda" section to Vol. I which contains changed and/or added
data sent in by Chastains. This had to be done before I could continue with
Vol. II. The deadline for getting material in for the "Errata" and Vol. II
was 1 October 1999. If, however, I don't have to redo too many pages, I am
trying to include new data in either the Errata or Vol. II. If receipt of
any new data means there are too many pages to redo, then the new material
will simply go into the database and it will not be in the new book.
We are having the annual reunion of the Pierre Chastain Family Association in
Richmond, VA in honor of the 300th anniversary of Pierre Chastain's arrival
in this country. He arrived in July 1700 in Virginia. We hope you will try
to attend. There's a really great bunch of Chastains who will make you and
your family welcome. The reunion is a 3-day event (Friday, Saturday and
Sunday) 13-15 October 2000. You can get final details in THE CHESTNUT TREE.
You should make your reservations as soon as possible.
Loyce Coolidge
Thanks, JaniceCall(a)aol.com.
Gerre Buland, Bob Leishman and Jimmy Chesteen and other board members also
deserve praise for the time and effort they contribute to the Pierre Chastain
Family Association. We also have a new person who is contributing time and
effort to the association. Ray Chastain has taken over redoing Little Otter
to Lost River on disk. We greatly appreciate any help we can get and it
should all be acknowledged. So, thanks again.
