Hi family,
I wanted to let Herschel and Virgie Chastain know I did received my book The First Five Generations. Thank you so much. I don't know if you have a computer or not but I hope this gets to you. I'm doing a lot of reading.
Next, I have a Adrienne Willbones e-mailed me on wanting some information about Elizabeth Young(1861-1943) that was married to Andrew Jackson Chastain(1860-1924). They where my ggrandfather and mother but I don't have much
at all on her. Also, information on a William M. Chastain daughter Lucinda Elizabeth Chastain who married William Thomas Gage. I haven't come across any Gage, but I haven't been at this very long, so if someone here can help
her,
her e-mail is : willbones(a)msn.com
Thanks

Sarah MIDDLETON b 1791 in SC, married Henry CROSSNOE(from Buncome co NC) and moved to Perry Co TN. Does anyone know if she had a sister named Anna MIDDLETON (b abt 1778 in TN and died in GA) who married Elijah CHASTAIN?????
Lynda
Barbara,
Could be that your Middletons and mine may be related. Since I'm stuck in
NC in 1797, I can't connect those long sought after roots. The Dentons and
Chastains that my Middletons married also came from that area of VA.
Interesting, hmmm.

I found this URL particularly helpful in determining if an ancestor listed on census data was a senator. He was not. Data showed DENTON, Sen Samuel. Hope it help you as well.

Can anyone connect with this:
John MIDDLETON b 1797 m Jemima DENTON in 1815 in Haywood Co, NC. John's sister, Charity MIDDLETON b 1798, m Jonas Denton (Jemima's brother) in 1815, Haywood Co, NC. John and Jonas are on the muster rolls together in the War of 1812. Jemima and Jonas' parents were Samuel DENTON and Elizabeth CHASTAIN. Elizabeth's parents were Rev. John CHASTAIN and Mary O'BRIAN of the Pierre CHASTAIN line. Elizabeth's brother, Elijah CHASTAIN, m (1) Ann MIDDLETON (possibly related to John and Charity, she is reported as being born 1778 in TN.)
I also have come across a Sarah MIDDLETON who was born 1791 in SC and married, abt 1810, Henry CROSSNOE from NC who was also in the war of 1812. They moved to Perry Co, TN. (where is Perry Co, by the way?)
The Chastain data relates that Charity's is the dau of Thomas MIDDLETON. One assumes he is John's father as well as Charity's as their birth dates are too close to be otherwise. I have descending info on my John, but no ancestors.
The DENTONS and CHASTAINS came down from VA and purchased land in upper east TN under the Carolina land grant. Then, part of this family settled in Pickens Co, SC (Pendleton). John and Charity's birth place is shown as SC. I do not know from where my Middletons came.
***Familes living in SC, from the 1800 SC (Pendleton) census:
DENTONS: John and Sen. Samuel, family 8; Samuel, family 7
CHASTEEN(CHASTAIN): John and Stephen, family 164; Benjamin and John, family 148
MIDDLETON: Elizabeth (widowed), John and Richard, family 46; Thomas, family 7
Does anyone know of a possible connection between Deborah HORRY and Thomas MIDDLETON?
I am trying to find info on these MIDDLETONS, if you can help, please contact me at either:

lkwebster(a)hotmail.com

Carlos,
The Vol. I First Five Generations sold out (400 copies). An additional
250 was ordered on about October. Those copies should be in the hands of
Herschel & Virgie and in the process of distribution, and are the copies
in reference in my EMail to Marquetta. The supplement is still in
process.
In reply to your question about the new book that is in the works, would
it update the older book? It would tend to do that, at least it will
present material (data) of later times and events. It will start with
6th Generational material.

I'm back from a small holiday and now have several more questions to put
out, and statements to pass on. Jacque: yes, there are more red headed
Chastains, even only half Chastains. Count me in but nowadays it's more
white than red. Actually, it has always been reddish blonde, till recently.
Maybe someone can help me trace some first cousins long separated.
My grandfather George(no middle name)Chastain m. Alice Sarah Flagg.
They had:
Allen Marshall who had Lyda Ellen who d. 22 Nov. 1993, who had m.
William Stegemoller who died. Wm. & Lyda had Ethel LOU who m.
George(Robert?) Pierce. They had Scott Pierce and Laurie PIERCE.I don't
know for sure who was the father of Laurie because Lyda next m. Clarence
Shaw, then Paul Hill, but I think Pierce was right. It seems it since
the name seems to have been kept.
Allen Marshall had a brother George Thomas m. Ethel Welch. They had
1.Barbara who m. 1. Tom Bailey. They had: 1. Claire 2. Cathy 3. Linda.
Haven't found them. George and Ethel also had 2. Jacqueline who had Beth
Ann who m. Thomas Synowiec. Beth and Thomas had: Christopher. Tawney,
and Jennifer. Barbara then m. 2.Jack Corey, and 3.Tom Nix.
I have lost track of all but my uncles; Allen Marshall, and George Thomas.
I second this reply to Tim and Merlene ! Good Luck and Thanks...

Hello, All, and welcome to the turn of the century.
It is my understanding that there are several CHASTAIN/EENs buried in the
Flatwood Cemetery in Dallas Co., Missouri. It is my further belief that
these are most likely my kin.
Where, exactly, is the cemetery located, and is there a list of people
buried there? How would I go about obtaining a copy of that list? Where
would the death records for the years 1880 to 1901 be maintained?
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Markoquinn....
oops...I thought that this was going to you directly...Not to the list.
Please verify everything that I posted to you and the list. I have
not verified everything myself.....
(I do keep notes on paper, so I will look to see where I found this
information, but I don't seem to post them on my computer...
go figure...)

Here's what I found in my file. I'm not sure where I got all I have. This
is not my husband's
line so I just add things here and there without too many sources, sorry.
My husband's
line comes from Nancy and Elizabeth's brother Rainey. I may have gotten all
I already
have from you. So with that all I can say is I hope you find something new
below.
(I have that the girls were twins, I'm not too sure on that, if it is
something you didn't
know before) I go to the main LDS family history center here in CA and I
may
have picked up some of what I know from books for there. They a few books
on
the Chastains.

Del. I am a little confused about this second printing, you refer to. I
have Vol. 1 First Five Generations. Are you talking about a second printing
of that book? Or, are you talking about the new book that is in the work,
which would update the older book? CARLOS THOMASON
