I'm looking for information relating to Nelson Govan Dode Chastain. He was
married to Haseltine Barrett and had a number of children. One of those
children was Frank Chastain who lived in Hiawassee Georgia. It is believed
that Nelson also lived in the same area. If you have any information please
contact me as soon as possible by emailing me at jamesc426(a)aol.com. Thank You
Researching Chastains/Chasteens of Scott County Indiana. My ancestor is
Valentine Chastain Sr. and wife Mary Robbins. Their son Harmon and wife
Lavilla Robbins. Harmon and Lavilla's daughter Susan, born 1831, married
Jonathan Repp in 1851. They had one son, Pleasant Allen Repp, born 1852.
Did Susan die after this son was born? I can't find her or Jonathan Repp,
but Pleasant Allen Repp was living with his grandfather Harmon Chastain in
1860. What happened to Susan and Jonathan?
Pleasant Allen Repp married a cousin, Margaret Jane Chastain. Her parents
were John Chastain and Elizabeth Spaulding. John's parents were William
Chastain and Betty (?). William's parents were John Chastain and Anner
Robbins (?). Valentine and John were brothers (?)
I would like to hear from anyone researching the Scott County Indiana
Chastains.

Hi to all my friends and cousins.
While goofing off today, trying to clean up some loose ends on my HD, I
accidentally erased all my recent e-mail messages. If you recently sent
me a query, please resend it. I know there were several queries recently
which I haven't finished looking up. NOw I don't know what they were.
HELP?

Pierre, Jr.(Mildred Archer)
Rev. John (Mary O'Bryan
John (Jemima Denton)
John Jr. (Mary Akins)
Martha Elizabeth (my great grandmother)
(Md. B.T.Crook)
I suppose I ought to make contact with you folks and let you know my Chastain
line. Hopefully I'll meet some of you who know a fact or two about the
intersecting families. I should point out that most of my information comes
from the PCFA's wonderful text Pierre Chastain and his Descendants.
So, Here's my branch of the tree:
1. Pierre Chastain (Anne Soblet)
2. Pierre Jr. (Mildred Archer)
3. John (Mary O,Bryan
4. Joseph (Nancy Young)
5. John C. (Louisa Chapman)
6. Francis Marion (Sarah Margaret Downing)
7. Robert (Theresa McConnell)
8. Thelma Gertrude (1st. John Reasoner Barry, 2nd Frank
Rogers)
Thelma and John Barry were my maternal grandparents. I have information about
some of these families, mostly the McConnells, and would love to share.
Thanks for the opportunity,

I would like to remind you that the subject line in your posting should be
definitive. All of these letters go into the archives and are listed by the
subject. The subject line should briefly identify the letter. It would surely
be nice, too, if you would sign your full name to your mail. We would like to
know who you are and many of these addresses don't give a clue to your
identity. It's like having a message on your telephone answering machine that
simply says call me by using redial. Have a good day. CARLOS THOMASON, list
sponsor.
Rootsweb has a new surname list that is unique. If any of you would like to
look at all of the surnames currently posted, play around with this address
below. Scroll down to Chastain. Or, click on click on surname list. I put a
little story on about my THOMASON list and the CHASTAIN list. You might have
some suggestions about how we can use this vehicle.

Hi, Ellen,
I am researching my husband's side of the family. He is in the Faure' line.
His family later anglecized their name to Ford. I have some information on
Chastains and a fair amount on the Faure' . The information I am giving you was
provided by Hugh Grinstead, a relative, in 1950's. I have no citations for some
of this information so it needs to be validated. I am on the hunt in our local
library which has a large amount of early American history.
The parents of Daniel Isaac Faure' was Isaac Faure' married to Mary Ann
Thiboult. The parents of Mary Ann Chastain was John Francis Chastain born about
1619 in France. Her mother was Frances Jane Regnault also born in France.
Francis parents were Charles and Ann Regnault.
I have some descendants of Daniel Isaac. Are you also interested in them?

Past President William "Bill" J. Chastain does not have E-mail, so you
might send him a get-well card by snail mail, to wish him a speedy
recovery. He is home from the hospital as of Christmas Day, and is
recovering from heart surgery.
