Jim and Loyce,
Thanks for getting me up to speed on what's been happening in the 18 yrs I've been "dropped out" of Chastain research. Based on the valuable info and help you guys sent, I've decided to rejoin the PCFA and buy the new book!
Karen
I am trying to locate descendants of James H Chastain and Bertie Scott
Chastain so that I can exchange family information with them.
I don't have anything on James except that he is buried in Dallas Co MO.
Bertie was born in 1883 in Dallas Co MO, the daughter of Julius Max and
Susan (Henson) SCOTT. She is buried also in Dallas Co MO, however in
1953 she was living in Eldorado, Butler Co KS.
I know of two children:
Dale Chastain
Inez Chastain who marired Orville (Hays) Scott
I would really like to fill in the pieces of great-aunt Bertie's family.
Thanks!

Hi All
I should have pointed out that the net address was only for Virginia
records, but those are the ones of interest to most of us.
Here are a couple of related addresses/bookmarks:
http://eagle.vsla.edu:80/colonial/virtua-basic.html
allows you to search for various Virginia Colonial Records and
http://eagle.vsla.edu/colonial/ their homepage.
There appears to be a lots of good information here for any families
with Virginia roots.
Have a nice day.
Charlie
Hi All
I just discovered this. I knew the site existed, but now you can
Point your internet browser to http://198.17.62.51/collections/LO.html
then select Chastain.
You will receive 65 hits on an electronic card index.
Select the one of interest, either by entering the card number or using
the buttons above the card.
Hit the Retrieve DOC. Button and you can download an image of the actual
record.
More and more family history information is available from the
government, via the internet each day.
I hope this is not a repeat of information someone else has provided,
but as list members find these sites they should pass the information on
to everyone.
Have a nice day!!!

Folks, we finally have arrangements to report for the Reunion. Since the
consensus was to locate in Northeast Georgia, we embarked on a very
exhaustive search and finally settled on a site that appears to have all he
amenities that we will need at a reasonable cost for this area and time.
The 1998 Pierre Chastain Family Association Annual Reunion will be held in
Hiawassee, GA at the Lake Chatuge Lodge on the weekend of September 11, 12,
and 13. We have a block of 50 rooms reserved for us until one month prior
to the event date, the cost of the rooms are $69.00 for two double beds or
one king bed, this price will be honored for early arrivals and late stays
also. Suites are also available at the lodge, but you will have to check for
availability and price. The number for reservations is 706-896-5253. For
those coming by RV, The Georgia Mountain Campground is located with in
walking distance to the lodge, the phone number at the campground is
706-896-4191. Del is finalizing some minor details, meal reservations,
program schedule, etc.. and we will post here and on the web page as this
progresses. We greatly appreciate everyone's patience and input, want to
thank Gwen Skelton especially for her many site visits, and we hope to see a
big crowd in Hiawassee!! Will keep everyone posted on the details.

Hi, Charlie -
Just a note to call your attention to the estimated birth date of Dr. Pierre
Chastain. According to Cameron Allen, Pierre Chastain was born ca. 1659 - not
1663 as earlier research estimated. Dr. Allen is a noted Huguenot researcher
and is very, very thorough. Just thought you might be interested.
Loyce Coolidge
Charles Cox sent Pierre's name as having the middle name Jacob. This is the first time I've seen that - every time I turn around someone has some new bit of data about Pierre. Charles, could you tell me your source?

Hi All
For everyone's information. AOL has a FREE chat service that seems to
work pretty well. I have not checked to determine the size. Apparently
all you need is access to the internet. Of course AOL would prefer it
to be theirs. It works well with Netscape and I assume also with
Microsoft Explorer. I use Netscape Communicator and after installation
it appears as a choice on my communicator menu. Once you have listed
your friends, it keeps up with who is on line near-real-time.

Cheryl, I just want to let you know what wonderful work you do. Even
though this is not my branch of the family, it gives everyone an
example of how to display and share the information, it also will
help many people clean up doubtful connection, and since we are all
related, it will eventually help all of us!
Thanks for your wonderful work!
