Hello All,
Don't know if you have heard, but Ron Howard is filming an adaptation of
Nathaniel Philbrick's amazing book, In the Heart of the Sea, which relates
the true story of the ill-fated whaling ship Essex. The Essex was sunk in
the middle of the Pacific Ocean in 1820 after being rammed twice by a bull
sperm whale and is the inspiration for Herman Melville's classic Moby Dick.
The first mate of the Essex was Owen Chase, a descendant of the immigrant
William Chase who came to America in 1630. Apparently, the actor Chris
Hemsworth has been cast as Owen Chase. We'll see how he does.
The Wikipedia entry about In the Heart of the Sea is here:

And, I wrote an article about it a few years ago:
http://www.chace.demon.nl/writings/OwenChaseAndMobyDick.html
So, I am very much looking forward to how Ron Howard's film will turn out.
Cheers,
