I have been quite for a while but I might be able to add some life to the
group. As you know, my wife's maiden name was Chase. She descends from the
line of the three Williams. While on a trip celebrating our 50th wedding
anniversary, we ventured into Rhode Island. I knew some of her kin had roots
in the Newport, RI area and found where there was a Society of Friends
cemetery in Portsmouth, RI. We visited the Monthly Meeting Church and cemetery
and found the graves of several Chase's: Zacheus, Levi, Josiah, Ruth Anne,
Shadrach, three wives of Jacob (Elizabeth, Hannah and Eliza,) some Shermans
(Isaac, Margaret, Sarah) and maybe a few more who has last names associated
with the Chase line. I have pictures of the meeting house, built in 1700,
and pictures of several of the tombstones that I will share with our other
Chase friends. Charlie Scott

Hi,
I have just dent a post to the Chase Group but accidentaly sent before I
finished,
have you looked in Census records . Also have you checked land Grants? To
obtain a Land Grant you had to give some history of your ancestors,( Mine
were Loyalists and one in the New jersey Volunteers and it was via his
son's grant I traced my ancestry all the way back to England)
The u.S has got the most fantastic records of Land Grants and you can get
copies of the Actual Grant,
Best wishes

Sarah Chase, B 1788 in Maryland, D 1852 in Boone County, KY was the daughter
of William and Rebecca Chase. William died in Kent County, Delaware between
1801 and 1812. Sarah's siblings were: William, Ann, Rebecca, Elizabeth,
Maria, and John.
Sarah's half-brother, Samuel, left a will in Queen Anne's County, Maryland,
in 1842 naming her as his half-sister and leaving her some money.
Additional information about Sarah's parents, grandparents, etc. would be
greatly appreciated. I am also curious about the half-brother, Samuel. Who
was his mother?
Sarah's husband was William Wingate. Their first 3 children, beginning in
1805, were born in Maryland. The family migrated to Boone County, KY about
1814 where they had 7 more children and are well documented.
My actual brickwall is William Wingate. He was born about 1774 in Delaware
and died in Boone County, KY in 1855. I have never been able to identify his
parents or siblings. Any help there would also be greatly appreciated.
I am glad this list is active again.
Sue Russell
It's been sometime since I posted my Brick wall. Here it is-
Leonard Welcome Chase 1822-1894 married Phoebe Dame & Louise Babee
8 children listed, my direct line;
Alexander William Chase (also been listed as Wm Alexander)
B. 1839 Cortland Co NY (wondering if this is right since that would make his
father 17 when he was born)
Married- Amarintha ??
2 Children
Edward William -25 Oct 1868 d. 24 Nov 1921
Adaline J.
What I'm looking for is marriage information on Alexander and Amarintha.
Obit for Edward Chase he died in Steuben Co. I want to see if his mother
Amarintha is still living. 1920 census she was living with Edward and his
wife Flora A. Burd. I'm trying to find when she passed since I can't find a
death notice for her or her buried anywhere. I've never been able to locate
any information on Amarintha including her maiden name. I believe that
Amarintha is my connection to my American Indian connection and that's
probably why I'm having a hard time locating information on her.
Thanks for any Help,
Lisa Martin

Currently Rootsweb is being hit hard with Spam messages. If you see a
message come in with no Subject, just delete the message and what ever you
do DO NOT click the link inside these messages. The link will take you to
a page where you will ended up with a Trojan Virus on your computer, then
the Trojan will find your address book and mail the links out to everyone In
your address book.
Some people are thinking this is only hitting those with Yahoo or Hotmail
accounts not so, just this morning I had to remove 2 members who have AOL
accounts.
If you think you might have the Trojan I suggest you download and run
Malware Bytes.
Malware Bytes:

Run it several times, reboot in between.
If there was a Trojan found on your computer then make sure you change your

James was born in 1796. I believe 1 Oct.in New York, maybe Greene County, family says Albany. James married Rebecca Winn, (so many spellings) about 1824 in New York.
