Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

Hi Lisa,
I do not think it is someone spamming the list directly. What probably
happened was that a list member's computer got a virus that sent the post to
all of the contacts in the member's address book. This has happened to
some of my friends in the past.
You may want to send an e-mail directly to the person's address and let
them know. They may be unaware of it until someone tells them.

I'm very sorry seems as though the spammers are figuring out how to
subscribe to the list. I removed the email address that posted this
message
and banned it. I also changed the list where I have to approve each
address
that wants to join. More work for me but I'm having to go in and delete
and
mark over 5 spam messages a day (for each of my 5 list). Sorry I didn't
catch this soon, a bug had me under the weather this weekend..
Lisa
Lisa,
Thank you for all you are doing to keep the spammers out of the Chase
family list.
