Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
>From the Topeka (KS) Daily Capitol, Oct 12 1918:
"Don Wellman Is Dead.
Court Stenographer in Second Division of District Court.
"Donald W Wellman, court stenographer for the second division
of the Shawnee district court, died yesterday morning of
Bright's disease, in a local hospital. Mr Wellman had been
in poor health for several months, but served in his duties at
the court house until a few weeks ago. Mr Wellman was at
one time president of the Kansas Court Reporters' association.
"Not only was Mr Wellman a favorite in law circles, but he was
also well known in musical circles, but he was also well known
in musical circles in Topeka. He and Mrs. Wellman were
both good singers and appeared in public many times. Mrs.
Wellman was GWENDOLYN CHASE, the daughter of Dr.
J S CHASE, 1213 West Sixth Avenue. Mr Wellman is
survived by Mrs. Wellman, Jean, a daughter, James W.
Wellman, a brother, now in service, Mrs A. Clem, a sister,
of Los Angeles, and the mother. The funeral announcements
will not be made until word can be received from Mr. Wellman's
mother, who left for California last week."
I hope these folks belong to somebody.

In case you were not notified Yahoo is pulling the plug on GeoCities websites. If you have a website there and don't want to lose the information, then you need to get it saved ASAP. On Oct 26th all the websites will be deleted...
